I've got some ideas for mid/long term plans for my poker "career". I was going to wait until the end of the year to mention it but meh I'll just say now, plus I want to get a mini brag in lol.
If I carry on as I am I can make a decent living with a decent lifestyle but once the point comes that I can't beat these games anymore I'd be having to go back to work within a year, and I obv don't really want that. So I've been thinking about what my best options would be to avoid that scenario, just it's unlikely I'll be able to 24 table and crush 180s when I'm circa 50yo.
So my plan is this; Part 1 is for me to actually put in a reasonable grind for a change next year and surpass 200k vpps, I was on course for that this year until DTD/Marbella/Edinburgh put a spanner in the works there. If I were to achieve that then the numbers should look something like this:
Fpps = 700000 = $11200
VIP rewards = $3800
Rb = $15000
The plan would be to stockpile these and then at the end of the year I have 15k to add to the roll for 2014.
If I do 250 games a day I average about 1200 vpps so 200k vpps = 167 days. That really isn't that tough since I'm supposed to be doing this full time lol.
So 167 x 250 games = 41750 games
Being conservative here as I believe my average per game has always been higher than this but lets say I only make $1.50 per game.
41750 x 1.50 = $62625.00
Now I know what you'll all be thinking, zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz, he's always setting targets and never does it, he's too lazy etc etc. But, I've never had a reason to do it before other than just to make monies which doesn't really motivate me to grind, now I do have a reason.
Which leads me to part 2. So having successfully completed part 1, at they end of next year I should be able to accumulate a $30-40k roll. As I've mentioned a few pages back I intend to keep 10k online instead of 5 so I don't have anymore br issues for 180s, 10k+15k rb would leave me just needing to keep a small % of profits from next year online. With that bankroll I'd go after SNE in 2014. My best way of doing this would be grinding 6 max hyper turbos. I have to do some research into this for what br would be required, how many games I'd need to play etc etc but I believe it's definitely do-able.
Part 3 would be to reach SNE in 2014 and then having built a br I could play upto $200 hypers and hopefully achieve a + roi.
I'm sure this will be a lot tougher than playing the 180s, and I'd have a lot of work to do to get there. But I'm going to be 27 next year, seems like it's time I started growing up a bit more and took things a bit more seriously, if I try and fail then at least I tried and I can just go back to 180s, if I try my best and give it a proper go I'm confident I could do this.
To get the brag in lol, I mentioned this idea to a friend who came over the other day to see the new place, they kept pestering me to play one as I mentioned how quick they'd be over, so I said I would and fired up a $3.50 6m hyper for lolz, did a win, oioiiiiiiiiiii, thin I know. So I played another one, using the profits I played a $15, binkkk, 2/2. I was going to go for the treble and flick in a 60 but they said just play another 3.50 so I did that instead, degen spins ftw haha, binkkkkk 3/3. Played another 15 and busted level 1, brutal. So dived in another 15 and won that one as well, 4 wins out of 5 wasn't too shabby, obv this confirms I will crush these surely ?
