The sound from the back left and right speakers will often be very slight compared to the front 3.

Have you tried a DVD/Blueray and if you have, what does that sound like?

Trigg

Maybe what you are watching is not in 5.1. You will find if you put in a DVD, then all 5 will light up, but when watching normal TV with no surround it will only light up 2 maybe 3 speakers..

You may also need to use the

Digital Output Delay                         Oms

and change that once you have it set up, as a general rule needs to be 2-3 ms behind for the sound to match the movements on the TV.. As long as Digital Cable is in, and the input on your surround is set to digital then you will be getting what you should get..

Sounds stupid, but maybe the volume on the back 2 speakers need turning up more than they are pre-set, as back speakers are for surround rather than front sound..

Have you tried what dan suggested? Does a dvd play ok with all the speakers working?

Did you choose 'save setting' when you switched to Dolby D?

Are you sure that the film you're watching on sky outputs dolby D?
