Awesome. Just broke the WR for 1 day innings, not against some 2nd rate nation either.
Currently 199 n.o.

Wonderful stuff.
2nd all time for me, to Bradman. Not that one ever saw Bradman, but the record speaks for itself

More daunting for a bowler to see him strolling out? Or a batsmen seeing Warne handing his cap to the umpire?

Tendulkar I think
Been incredibly lucky last 15 years...Tendulkar, Warne, Lara...at the very minimum ( maybe for example add McGrath, Ponting, Walsh, Muralitharan etc) three all time greats

Walsh was part of a pair who had no back up so was going to get lots of wickets. Richard Hadlee had stats better they they would be if he played in a good team much the same as Murali. Malcolm Marshall was the best quickie i've seen but he played with too many good bowlers to take the volume of wickets these guys did. This does back up Warne and McGrath as greats but not Murali.
Tendulkar is way ahead of Lara given his odi record on top of the test stats. IMO. Ponting is not too far behind.

As much as it pains me to say it I think Ponting is on a par with Tendulkar, but they are obviously both exceptional players. We've been pretty blessed with all time greats in recent years.

In fact I've just checked their averages and they are identical which confirms it for me.

Plus Ponting is one of the few who has been able to maintain his stats while captaining his country
Lara, Tendulkar and others all tried and failed

I think Lara to an extent is a victim of being in such a bad side at times.
Tendulkar is still the best batsman I've ever seen though.

Averages aren't everything.
Over the past ten years batsmen have been on top, meaning plenty of players have averages over 45 and even 50. Batting's been easier.
Michael Atherton's average was only 37.69. Ricky Ponting didn't have to play most of his Test career facing Ambrose, Walsh, McGrath, Donald, Pollock, Wasim, Waqar, plus Warne, Murali and Kumble.
