Ok guys - my mate wants his stag do in the Scottish Highlands, near Fort william - so we can do some outdoor adventure stuff.

I have no problem with that.................... oh wait - except that there is no where to drink

so I have a few questions:

1. What is fort william like for a night out - if it is any good will 20 English blokes get beaten up by locals

2. How far away (minibus drive) is Fort William from Glasgow?

3. You get my line of thinking - any other ideas?

LOL its Fort William don't think there will be 20 people there to beat you up.

if you want to do some outdoor stuff and drinking do the West highland way the easy way. Basically walking from Glasgow to Fort William but get a car to take all your gear make each leg short and stop at a pub every night. Mate met his wife doing that.

Not sure why, but the title of this thread made me giggle in a George2Loose stylee.

Pub called the Clachaig Inn in Glencoe is excellent - just south of Fort William. Big climbers bar. Will fit 20 of you no problem.

There are several pubs in Fort William - best is probably the Grog & Gruel (owned by same folk as the Clachaig Inn). There is a brewery nearby in Kinlochleven - Atlas Brewery - if you wanted to visit that give me a shout they may be able to help you get pished.

pretty few options grog and gruel or a couple of other boozers...its alright but not glasgow that for sure - not likely to gte beaten up...i`d be more worried about getting snowed in of late.
as for outdoors stuff depending on what he counts as outdoors you could still base it out of glasgow as there are mountains an hour away you could do. i`d do a weekend in glasgow with an early rise on the saturday for  few hills and then back to town for some pillaging

2. How far away (minibus drive) is Fort William from Glasgow?
glasgow is 2 half hours or in daytime a train journey thats pretty good.
wesy highland way is a decent booze trip in between scenery, did it over 5 days and 20 pubs a few years ago but its become the trendy walk now. you can stay in wigwams , hotels, hostels , luxury lodges or rough it.

3. You get my line of thinking - any other ideas?

1. Fort William is pretty good for a night out and not short of pubs and restaurants. Locals in Fort William are far outnumbered by visitors to the town. Grog & Gruel mentioned earlier is good but not the only good pub in the town.

2. Glasgow is a bit of a trek to be honest.

3. If your mate wants to do the whole outdoor adventure thing you'll struggle to find a better place to have it.

One of my favourite places for a weekend away. http://www.visit-fortwilliam.co.uk/
