I honestly thought Rangers would get a few ropey decisions against them today as the League is over but it seems not

http://tinypic.com/player.php?v=33ju1ba&s=6

Answers on a postcard for what the ref gives here

A. a penalty to St Mirren and a Red Card for the statesman of Scottish Football
B. a free kick and Red Card to the above
C. a free kick and not even a word to the defender who stops a goal scoring oppurtunity
D. a penalty to Rangers

lol

Weir has been doing that all season and getting away with it.

It should be B, was probably C but would have been D if there was anything to play for.

I wasn't at the game yesterday and other than the goals I have only seen the clip posted. I have not yet looked at a paper today either so don't actually know the answer.

I am guessing the answer is C and to be honest I'd be disappointed if it was anything other, I would maybe take a yellow without moaning too much right enough. I would say the same if it was a Celtic defender making the same challenge on a Rangers forward. This is a centre half and a centre forward engaged in a physical contest, this sort of thing goes on all the time, a red for this would be a complete joke in my opinion.

You are correct it was C but you clearly don't even know the rules of Football.

Yeah, I may know next to feck all about what the rule book says but I did play centre half for a number of years though and would be proper seething if I'd got a red for that!!

And I thought Celtic fans would have you believe the real hunline number is 0141 616 6000.

Seriously though, it is a little more classy to moan about a decision when you are 2-0 up with 4 mins to go in a meaningless end of season game so well done on that front.

If you don;t know thew rules, then you don;t know the rules, playing centre half makes no differnce to that. In today's game, that is a sending off.

No such rule - 'denying a clear goalscoring opportunity' which is what that was.

I don't think Kev said it was a rule. He's pointing out that if there were 2 covering defenders it wasn't a clear goalscoring opportunity.

I don't agree that there were but the fact that "last man" or "last defender" aren't mentioned in the rule book it doesn't mean you just discard them.

An interesting piece in the Racing Post today.

In the last 13 years of Old Firm games Celtic have had 134 yellow cards against them, Rangers 135. Celtic red cards were 11 and Rangers 10.

Have you got a link for the article? All it really says is that they've had almost the same amount of cards not whether they were warranted or not eg Brown shouldn't have been off at the weekend and Bougherra should.
Yeah would be very interesting to see when these Red cards happened, seem to remember a few Rangers Reds against us when we were a couple of goals ahead and Celtic Reds when the games were tight.

Ever heard of the word paranoid?

I don't agree there were covering defenders either, especially as he's hauled down during the act of shooting, surely if he's shooting, with an unobstructed view of the goal, then it's a goalscoring opportunity?
