I was doing something similar a while ago.

Apparently wood comes in specific widths to joiners and timber merchants and the max width is not as wide as what you want here. The timber merchant said he would order a peice but i remebering it being a daft amount so did something else with smaller peices. I went to several places.

Contacted two joiners locally this morning and they said similar things about the width and having to have to glue two pieces together and then plane it down, anyway neither could give me a price straight away, so I will have to wait and see.

And there's me thinking I would have this fitted by the weekend <sigh>

The very last hand of the night goes to Dewi James, who finds ACES and talks Raymond O’Mahoney into calling his all-in preflop bet of 15k.  “If I had AQ, I’d call!” says Dewi.  Raymond calls holding pocket 66’s.

I wanted Oak if possible. I did think about glass.
Just got the new iMac today, which is what the shelf is for and its bloody heavy so its going to need some good fixings.
Found a chap online who has quoted £115 for the spec i want in natural Oak so I think im going to go with that and see what its like.

ps- the new imac is the dogs bollocks, bye bye pc Smiley

Use the wood offcuts to make the brackets to hold it up?  ie..  Triangular shaped, vertically mounted...  Using maybe resin anchor bolts..?
