Would never thought that possible, how many calories would he have burned?

More about fluid loss than calorie burning, was the way I read it at least.

I've never understood the point of having a weigh in 2 days prior to an event.

This guy has broke the record for the 220lb class but he actually weighed 250lb when he was doing it.

Same with boxers etc. They cut down by 10 pounds or so just for weigh in day then actually fight at their normal weight.

Bit stupid really.

the argument is that people will cut anyway so might as well give them some time to recover rather than have them fight dehydrated.

Yeah it's been argued to death in plenty of places.

If the weigh in was 5 mins before the event though everyone would just fight at the weight that suited them best. Surely that's better health wise taht cutting / re-hydrating iver the course of 2 days?

Possibly a weigh in 3 days prior then a max of 2% increase allowed at the ime of the fight would be good.

This guy competing at 30lb above his weight class is just ridiculous and makes a mockery of the whole thing.

It gives a huge advantage to people who have the metabolism to drop such huge amounts of weight.

Anyway as I said the argument's been done many times. That's just my opinion.
