In a press release, Head of BBC Factual Programmes based at BBC Bristol's Natural History Unit, Avril J'ester, said
"We are delighted to secure the services of Thomas McCready for the new Autumn watch series. We were directed to his diary on blonde Poker where Thomas shows unrivalled love for nature and unparalled knowledge of the subject. With the exception of moles. We were going to go with Bill Oddie again but a combination of his temper tantrums and repeated singing "Oooh, ooh, oooh the Funky Gibbon" at the start of takes made this an unappealing prospect and we are delighted to replace him with another authoritative figure, even better he has facial hair which allows him to continue in the tradition of Bellamy and Oddie. Next, we have to get him wearing sandals
This video shows you why Oddie had to go, and Thomas had to come.
