We will have a new champion this month.  Pete Wigglesworth needed to get busy and decided that A6 was the hand from the cut-off.  He didn't know that the BB had woken up with AA and last month's champion will have to wait until next month if he wants to replicate his April victory.

With 15 minutes of this level left, and therefore an hour left of play for Day 1,  the players with shorter stacks are looking to get busy and come back tomorrow with a stack they can play with.

63 players is quite a lot for this time of the day, but with a lot of short stacks I think we'll have quite a few fireworks before the end of the day and will lose a fair few more.

Chinese Frankie raises to 4,800.  Alan Clarke in the cut-off re-raises all-in.  A count shows it's 23K total.

Frankie asks Alan if he has KQ.  In fact, he's sure Alan has KQ.   He interrogates him for a good minute, and he's sat with about 40K.

Frankie calls and says "I'm amazing at times how good I can call hands".  How close was he...?

Alan two spades Two Diamonds

Frankie

Frankie accumulates some more chips and Alan leaves us.  Frankie must be happy Alan didn't have KQ now...

Peter Haslam v Umar Khan

Peter all-in with
Umar

Other than seeing a 7 on the flop, it's pretty much the best flop Peter could hope for:

So we lose Peter.
