I've had 'Locale' installed on my phone for a while and it's pretty powerful.

But 'tasker' looks even more powerful.  Allows you to get your phone to do 'things' according to the situation you're in.  So for example, you can set it so when you're at home it switches the wi-fi on, disables the key-lock and turns the volume down (and off between the hours you want to sleep).  It can do a lot more than that, but takes a bit of reading and playing around with to understand what you can do with it.  It's a paid app £3.99 - but that's hardly going to break the bank.

There's a whole load of advice and tips about tasker on reddit:  http://www.reddit.com/r/tasker

Here's a good overview to get you started with tasker: http://lifehacker.com/5599116/how-to-turn-your-android-phone-into-a-fully+automated-superphone

This looks incred, defo getting it

Anyone used LogMeIn Ignition or something similar on an Android phone?

I frequently need remote access to the office PC and it's a pain to have to fire up the laptop to do it.

I've dabbled with PhoneMyPC, just on home network... it seems to do what it says on the tin.

A developer friend of mine swears by it.

If it's unlimited, yer grand.  Only way they find a reason to stuff you on 'unlimited' is if yer downloading movies and music to beat the band each month.
