My friend is swapping out his wonky HTC Desire for a new one, but wants to back it all up to storage card and take select files with him before wiping it. Some files aren't backed up by this process so he wants to pull them out manually. Is there a decent file manager? Is there a way of installing a program by using a PC to put an install prog on an SD card?

I have just ordered a HTC Desire HD, was a flip with that and a Samsung Galaxy S. HTC won as it was in stock tomorrow where the galaxy would not be in stock for 2 weeks from T-Mobile. I'm now looking to divert all emails from my Blackberry 9700 to HTC. T-Mobile have let me take my 9700 contract only 3 months old, down from £50 a month to £18 a month and take on this 2nd phone on, got seriously bored of the BB except for BBM. So thanks T-Mobile

What app's would people suggest for the phone? Looking online, It's arriving Saturday. Is it possible to get everything pre downloaded to laptop and transfer when phone arrives.

** Quick edit to make sure I have not been miss sold ** The lady over the phone said for £35 (discounted for length I have been with T-Mobile, it will come with 1200 minutes, Unl texts, but 1GB of internet (but said if i go over this I will not have to pay for it?) has anyone else come across this

Thanks in advance

Something like this? Type Bandwidth Monitor PC or Bandwidth meter PC into Google and you get a few.

Although I'm assuming that's what netcounter is - totals up traffic across Wifi/LAN/3G/etc?

thanks Rex,

I just need a way to measure all the streaming I do on my PC, to stay within my 40 Gb monthly limit.

I do not download any data its all streaming.

I can ring up BT to ask how much Gb I have used, but its a pain

Thinking of getting a Samsung Galaxy S tomorrow.

Since they've been around a bit longer now, has anyone who has one got anything bad to say about them ?

My boss got one last week, and it was ok, but I really thought that the HTC phones are much quicker.. might be me though

Well, I've finally been dragged kicking and screaming into the smart phone era. The handset I went for isn't very fashionable (Or should that be desirable) but it has a good camera and a proper xenon flash, which is important for me.

So far I've managed to make a call, send a text, browse the web and download an app (What's the difference between an app and a widget?)

What I can't seem to do is download pics to my pc, or upload music to the phone.

With my previous not quite so smart phones, I've simply connected to the pc via a USB cable, and up pops the scanner and camera wizard. It shows me thumbnails of my pics, I select the ones I want, click "Next" and voila!

When I connect the data cable to smart arse, the wizard pops up, but the thumbnails are blank, or have the same icon, but no visible picture, so I can't select the ones I want. I can "Select All" but when I click "Next" nothing happens. It says it's downloading my pics, but it's lying.

Also,',',',',' I usually upload music by accessing the phone's memory and just dragging and dropping, but I can't find it in "My Computer."  I can find the phone camera, but not the phone's memory card.

And before anyone asks....    Yes. I have tried turning it off and on.

If you just drag and drop onto the phone, it goes into the memory card  (well it does on mine anyway)

I can't open the phone memory, but I can see the camera icon.

Right. The scanner and camera wizard is downloading my pics, but it seems to be just downloading the thumbnails, and leaving the big pictures behind. Any ideas?
