Then I'm quite happy to get it in here.
Small blind, Laggy, aware. Has been tangling with hero all night, and is looking to put one over on him from friendly comments that have been made after a couple of bluffs have been shown fron Hero. Hero and Villain know each other well. Villain's range is felt to be pretty wide here
Hero feels they are two of the five players on the final demonstrably better than the others.
Laggy player who said he's gonna play back at you. You've just made a standard open in LP, nice spot to play back. Also, you feel he's one of the stronger players at table so he is certainly capable of making this play. Plus, you have a suited KQ. Stick it in his eye and take some chips off one of the few players on this table who can actually challenge you.

Pretty big 3bet rings the odd alarm bell imo, what's his usual sizing? I'm still very much inclined to shove here, calling is not gonna work out well for you most of the time (unless you wanna invent a new move called something like a stop-and-waitaminute-and-go, calling and check shoving any flop cos with KQs you're pretty much always gonna have 6 outs or more right?) and folding seems far too tight.
we have position on the flop though
Position doesn't count for a lot when we're 26 bigs deep in a 3 bet pot.
Any kind of flop action is committing your whole stack so you can't outplay your oppo.
If neither hit it's going to come down to who has the conkers to stick it in first meaning we're often better off oop.
If you decide to go with the hand pre flop is the time to do it.
Personally I just pass to the 3 bet unless I have a very good reason to think I'm winning.

So I passed (not liking any of the options much, and wimping out of the gut feel given the reads, namely the shove) and got

U want people shoving on you when you have king high?
What makes you ever think that oppo is 3 betting and then checking the flop?

yeah I get that, was just in response to the quoted post which suggested we'd be playing out of position.
I'd rather call the extra 5k and get it in if I hit the flop in any shape or form (along the lines byron suggested), or give up at that point if I miss with a still average stack.

This is pretty close. It would be a fold vs any of the other players without being able to ascribe a range. However, against this villain you are able to figure a range, and you figure it's pretty wide. All the info you've accumulated through the night bring you to that assumption. I think the important strategy point here is not to open wide and 4bet jam tight vs his action, know where the bar is set before opening. The fact you have a geuine opening hand, bags of FE, and the game's pretty shallow gives you every excuse to go with your conviction, or why have a conviction? Also you've gotta factor opening will be much tougher after folding here. I do agree calling is poor cos you are reverting to playing your cards and hoping to hit the board rather than playing the pokers.

i wanna say call and check jam every non A high flop, but stacks arent deep enough, just jam pre, with KQ we block enough combos of hands that have us crushed and the
suitedness
makes it reasonable against his calling range.
