They were warned they wouldn't be able to pass. They went anyway. They were boarded and started to beat the soldiers. I have to admit if i'm getting beaten by a crowd of people and i'm fearing for my life and i've got a gun on me i'm probably going to use it. Not saying thats exactly how it went down but i can see how the soldiers decided to open fire and yes if somebody has a gun and you have a stick don't start a fight.

If that is true, it still wouldn't have happened if they hadn't acted illegally in the first place. The ship wasn't acting illegally. The Israeli's were.
