Is it a power saving feature - i.e. screen darkens when you don't move the mouse for a while?

start > control panel > display.............. then there is a brightness bar and power save setting

does this happen when plugged in? is there any chance of intermittant power? check the transformer connection too

let me know

blimey

erm try toggling with them and see if you can make it stop - turn it down for 10 mins - then back up

also go to control panel  - power - and turn OFF any power save feature

not sounding good thou!

Definitely sounds like intermittent power of some sort, possibly even a bad connection within the laptop itself.

Unplug it and let it run off the battery for awhile, if it still does it you rule out the connection/cable/transformer being the problem. If it stops you know you either need a new cable/transformer/fixed connection or more serious work inside.

If it's changing as often as you make out, it's highly unlikely to be a software problem. Sounds totally hardware related IMO.

Still, if you change the power-saving settings to not change the brightness of the screen if the laptop is plugged in/unplugged, then it wouldn't get brighter and darker even if the power kept on coming on and off.
