Anyone else playing this? Heard rumblings that there might be overlay. I can see them struggling to hit 250 players for a 1k so close to the main event in vegas.

I know kaibobble will be there because we have a date at the bar at some point over the week-end.  Herself and the DTD lot are arrive at some point today.  Not sure about the rest though.  Will keep ye posted over the week-end as I'll be popping in there now and then to say hi and rail if needed.

Met Kate and a few from DTD including Alex and Simon.  Few drinks and a Thai meal later, we were entertained by a proper character called Jim.  Don't know his second name, but man...he makes ME look sane!  lol  Gosney is due in town tomorrow and kick off is at 4pm.  I'm off to Dublin in a couple of hours (5:30am wake up call - marv) with the kids to get their US passports, so won't be back to Killarney until around 9pm.  Will post if I hear anything newsworthy for ye once I get there.

143 of 253 left

Day 1 » Killarney » Season 1 » UKIPT

by Rick Dacey on June 24, 2010 5:34 PM

ukiptthumb.JPGIt's said that if you took a long enough lever and had a place to stand you could move the Earth. Well, that's what Archimedes said but then again he did run naked down the streets of Syracuse shouting 'Eureka!' so perhaps you shouldn't trust everything that flew out of his gob. If you took that said same lever and balanced it perfectly it would mean that you'd be slap bang in the middle and that's exactly where we are at the UKIPT Killarney, the centre point of the Season 1 tour. Enough of existential ramblings, who are the overinight chipleaders? They are Irishmen Vinny Gavin (79,850) and Sean Molloy (77,350) who are doing their best to follow in Padraig Parkinson's footsteps and keep the Irish UKIPT titles on homesoil. These two are leading the charge of the 143-strong field that are coming back to play day 2. Over one hundred players fell today from the 253 that contributed to the €253,000 prizepool and another hundred more will face elmination before the payouts begin with a €1,650 handshake for a 32nd place finish.

Vinny Gavin     Ireland      79850
Sean Molloy   Ireland      77350
Nathan Watson   United Kingdom      75125
Vinny O'Toole   Ireland      68400
Cat O'Neill           Ireland      64650
Dave McAndrews   Ireland      64000
Maurice O'Donoghue   Ireland      62750
Declan Connolly   Ireland      61550
Andrew Laurie   United Kingdom      51900
Darius Tamulevicius   Ireland      50300
Oskar Prehm   Germany      50175
Roy Brindley   Ireland      49500
Nicholas Newport   Ireland      49450
Nigel Murphy   Ireland      46350
Vincent Trethewey   United Kingdom      45175
Simon Trumper   United Kingdom      42350
Dan Owston   United Kingdom   40350

Keith McFadden   Ireland      39300
Andrew Youens   United Kingdom      35875
Andrey Shtern   Russia      25175
Michael Graydon   Ireland      23925
Sofia Lovgren   Sweden      23100
Toby Lewis    United Kingdom      22900
Christy Monahan   Ireland      20150
Liam Flood           Ireland      19700
Owen Robinson   Ireland      16750

Manchester final table finisher Dan Owston is the prime candidate for play of the day, one which he freely admits was fuelled by a little tilt. Kate Langshaw had limped under the gun at the 100/200 blind level and had been raised to 700. Owston had called from the small blind with 2♥2♠ and check-called 1,650 on the J♥3♥6♠ flop, 3,100 on the 5♦ turn and a final 6,200 - from his opponent's 11,000 stack - on the 9♣  river. A fail here would have left Owston with a mite over 2,000. 'I would have put him in for my last few chips if I thought he'd call,' said Owston who refused to show his hand until his opponent showed his A Q . Fishy calls or Brunsonesque underpair to the board bluff catch? We'll leave that to your discretion but we'd like to err towards the latter. Owston finished the day on 40,350.

Wiiiii I can confirm Hugh does in fact exist and is currently sat with a few of us creative drinkers out on the patio. Can't explain the 'creative' tag just now. Will wait and see how we fair first. Pic to follow if I figure out how to do it.
