Really? I didn't realise that

No, not the golden age of steam.

I understand the steam and the brunel but,

Why racehorse breeding? that surprised me

Just something I became interested in during my twenties, at a time when I was a student of form, as they say.

I shall spare you one of my War & Peace tomes, but I'll just offer up these couple of titbits about racehorse breeding, given that this thread has veered a little towards sexual innuendo. The whole subject, of course, revolves around the selection of what two parents will produce the best progeny, blending the talents of each parent. But at some stage, the two parents have to, err, mate.

So it's announced in the breeding press that today, "Mrs Nag" (the dam) visits Mr Nag (the sire).

And the following day, they coldly announce that Mr Nag successfully covered Mrs Nag.

Try using that terminology on the missus......

Red -Dog - NO. I detect a hint of sarcasm there, so I'm sulking. No more articles on Railways for YOU. So there.

Freight trains comprise wagons or trucks rather than carriages, though some parcel and mail trains (especially Travelling Post Offices) are outwardly more like passenger trains.

A train hauled by two locomotives is said to be "double headed".

See, I wasnt extracting the Micheal, Im interested.

its just that the copy and paste jobbie sounded like a threat, and I wanted you to carry it out

now we may never know

Well I shall spare our long suffering readers the prospect of trawling through that tosh again, but I'll send you it by e-mail. You clearly have a basic understanding of the subject. Wait till we next share a table, we can talk trains for hours & then nick the blinds after they all fall asleep.........

My God you guys have nothing better to do. I thought red dog would have being brushing up on how to play against terrible all in moves in Luton. Sorry again mate.... And you should know better Tony. A man of you age would have been brought up in the steam age. For us it is all history, but for you it came just after your introduction to mushy peas.

Going to Vegas on Thursday for a week...any messages to take over Tony. You in London with your jacket tomorrow
