the saddest bet ever?

Ive had a mare on the punting front through the World Cup and was busying away on some golf stuff this afternoon when a mate rang me with some red hot inside information.
As Tikay menioned in his diary, it was the World Hot dog eating championships in Coney Island and was live on ESPN America. The news was pretty big, the 2nd fav, an Asian guy Kobi had been disqualified for previously taking part in an event not sanctioned by the World Eating Federation, an Asparagus eating event in Asia and had been caught on film winning that event so was bang to rights.
This meant that the fav Chestnut was now about a 1/33 chance yet was available at 2/7, with many previous 65-70 eats he was well clear of everyone else in the field and the only way he could be beaten was a miid eat vomit or some obscure unforseen event.
Now, given you have had a mare this month do you take a deep breath and pile on with a big bet. Or does the fact that you are even contemplating having a bet on the World Hot Dog Eating Championship, or that you actually know someone that follows this closely enough to know that a 2/7 chance is now a 1/33 chance mean that maybe you need to get out more and have been gambling far too hard recently?
Big bet or admit you are very sad to even think about having a bet?

This.....but I bottled it. In the end I know it doesnt matter what the event is the price was wrong and instead of taking it I was too worried about doing yet another chunk in after a hectic month. Anyway, the guy coasts to a win and then it all kicks off as the link above shows.
The annoying thing was we spend time looking for an edge and then a real one appeared and I missed it. I think the overriding reason was I couldnt quite face doing thousands in on a guy eating hotdogs if it went wrong.

I feel sick, wish i'd seen this thread earlier.
I'd have just piled in for my net worth seriously.
That comp is always a two horse race, tbh 1/33 is even a touch of value, i'd have made him like 1/50. 2/7 was literally the price of the century. Chesnut is an absolute hot dog eating monster, without the japanese guy in it he just couldn't lose.
Forgot about this event tbh and had assumed there wld have been no value around.

Nico i dont know whether your a absolute legend or a complete clown. Eurovision "trading", every Irish horse race you can shake a stick at and now betting on players to make World Cup squads.
I thought i was bad but is there actually anything you don't bet on?
Who are you on for Britains Got Talent this week?

Mr Kobayashi, the thin Japanese contender who smashed all previous US records in 2001, jumped a barrier and tried to get up on the stage while the crowd chanted: "Let him eat!"
