I AM proud of you Mr Prince, what a fine Post, & set of photographs.

Tighty signalled the thread to me, or I would never have seen it. To save me reading 20 odd pages of potentially myopic football supporters guff, is the rest of the Thread equally interesting, is it worth my time have a look through it?

I hope you took the time to investigate the old Crewe Railway works whilst in town? The Station, for one which sits at such a strategically important point on our Railway Network, & is so busy, is frankly a bit of a disappointment, but the Railway Works were something special.

How long has Dario been at Crewe, now? He must be an institution there, & what a fine man he is, with excellent morality, very different to most football managers. And why is he still there, & not been poached, is he not as good as I think?

The sentence I've bolded is awkward to answer, in the same way you probably think your own thread lacks the quality, I often tweak a post before finally posting it, rarely am I 100% happy with it though.  I'll try and make more train journeys though that I promise.  Smiley

Crewe station was miserable, a cold wet day anyway, it was covered in scaffolding and leaky roofs, wet walkways and puddles, and not much busier than Chester on saturday.

Dario has been at Crewe 27 years!  Thats nearly as old as me!  A legend there, although I think some fans think its time he stepped aside altogether, I don't think he's able to sit still and retire though, perhaps would send him to an early grave if he stopped.  Tighty might know better if any club has ever tried to take him, perhaps he's just loyal?  Fancy that in football!!

Pre-Strachan leaving then.  Cheesy

I think what those 4 lower league managers you've mentioned DO have in common is that as well as reaching the level of expectation at there clubs, Like Dag & Red under John Still, I think if they lost all 46 games this season they would have still over-acheived, I think most 'true' fans realise the expectation at there own club is not to win the league, like Accrington Stanley, what a job he's done, they absolutely love him there simply for keeping them a league club.

But aswell as reaching expectation, I think its importnant to say each of those are decent, realisitic and well respected managers, all good guys, certainly helps big time.

That's astonishing. 27 years, good grief.

I have some assorted football guff I read & think about, but I'm never quite sure where to Post it, so I generally fail to. It's slightly odd stuff, though. Is there any appropriate thread for it, or should I best stick it on my Diary, where the occasional reader knows to expect left-field geeky stuff?

Dario is an absolute ledge. Crewe academy were best team I ever played against, just played incred football.

I read a candid interview with Dean Ashton recently, where he said in the Crewe youth academy Dario managed every youth side down to U12's. So Ashton's manager from 11 years old was Dario.

Tikay I would recommend reading the whole thread, it certainly isn't your average football thread. More an insight into lower league football for geeks.

OK, that'll do for me. I can't be arsed with the "Chelsea (or whoever) are scum" nonsense, but a wider & more balanced view interests. I have peculiar interest in behind the scenes detail.

When Teams travel to Europe, do they have chartered flights, how are "home & away" gate receipts divvied up these days, (all divisions), do Agents exist at the lower levels, what is the process for agreeing when a Team needs to wear an "away" kit? Anyway, I'll have a peruse.

I was an avid Brentford fan for 20 years, home & away, so I've paid my lower league dues, & some. Wink

When are you watching Brighton?

Just looked at fixtures, playing Colchester 4th December.

Your fixtures prior to that are away at Saints & Hartlepool, a home game and the FA cup 2nd round.

Would never be going to Brighton or Southampton, and we have a part-time guy who lives 10 miles from Hartlepool, so an outside chance in the FA cup game, a) if you get there & b) its up north.

Or possibly a random away game for yourselves I might come across you.

Be interesting to see Brighton.

Hows the stadium coming along?

ok before I answer the Bradford Q's, last saturday I went to a game in the Birkenhead & Wirral league, this was the lowest level league I've seen in a long time, and tbh it was a complete waste of time, 4-1 after about 10mins, no linesmen, 2 corner flags (pic shows corner flag being put in after 30mins), 10 players on 1 team, nets hanging off the posts, you know the score.

Only bright note was I took my little lad to his 1st game, 11 weeks old, he wasn't impressed though, slept all 1st half and went to Co-op 2nd half with Mum.  Cheesy

Bury V Bradford on tues was a nightmare from start to finish really, M56 was blocked, had to gamble and go through Frodsham over to Northwich and up the M6, took 2 1/4 hours as oppsed to an hour as it would normally be & got there 5 mins before kick off.  Got drenched running from street parking (permit zone too, gambled no wardens out getting soaked), and got to seat just in time.  had 5Live on during the trip there incase any games were off, and this nearly was apparaently, but didn't know that until I'd arrived.  Puddles galore, cold wet and miserable it.

Bradford fans in good voice to be fair, not a far trip for them either.

The words 'Bradford' & 'saturday night' is not a combination I ever hope to witness.  Cheesy

But on tuesday night they did well yeah, nullified the Lively Lowe & Ajose (on loan from Utd, young Michael Owen anyone?), scored with a well taken Pen, which was a pen, and held on during the 2nd half.  It was very even though for most of it, but Bury are one of the better League 2 teams so that bodes well for Bradford.

Daley very lively, never know what your going to get with him do you?  Price is decent in League 2, but like I mentioned before very unselfish, no killer insticnt.

Oliver played well, did well on the deck for someone about 9' 2''.

No Threlfall?  Surprised with that, coming back from injury?

Lee Hendrie missing too, Doherty been around the block and back but still going, not too much running these days though.

Would have liked to have seen Louis Moult, Stoke think highly of him.

Colchester don't have a 'weak team'.  Think I know the side he'll play, wouldn't expect lots of changes.  Both teams of good runs, Wycombe won 2-0 in the JPT about a month ago so no reason why you can't win.  Teams will be 'told' by chairman not to play weaker sides, too much money there for a run.
