You have my sympathy Heid, my wee sister's the same & she has a hard time with it. At least I know what to blame in my case.

3rd January - 19 Stone 13 lb
24th January - 19 Stone 1lb
Weight loss to date - 12lb.
I wish I'd only lost 12 pound on the poker table since 3rd january, I think I am suffering from a touch for the Phil Taylors!

Just realised the month has come and gone. I will be posting my results monthly otherwise this thread will just be 20+ postings from me and nothing else (this way it will only be 4 or 5 postings from me!).
I must admit I have slipped somewhat in recent weeks and I am not looking forward to the weigh in next week (if I am the same as I was on the 24th I'd be happy).
Strangely as my weight came back on my luck in poker changed and I won a tourney which had been crushing me of late, I even dished out 2 bad beats on the way to (split prize money) victory. Sadly my health, this challenge and my July life insurance application are insisting this must be put to one side!!

3rd January - 19 Stone 13 lb
10th April - 19 Stone 8lb
Weight loss to date - 5lb.
I have tried the 'watch what you eat' diet which worked, I then got cocky and tried the mon-fri diet which didn't, followed by a eat what you like for dinner, but have no supper and small breakfast/lunches which was a disaster, the upshot being that halfway through my quest I have lost an average of just over a pound a month, shocking!
The good news it I am now starting another 'watch what you eat' diet and still hope to have shifted the weight by the end of June. Hopefully people will realise how cheap it is to sponsor me (most people owe just a pound at this stage!) for this cause and I may generate a bit more cash. As things stand I owe more than everyone else combined, because:
1) If I don't lose at least a stone by 1st July (sounds easier than it is for me!!) that I will match the average price per pound pledge and pay it x 1000 so if the average price per pound is 20p I would give £200 on top of the money raised for any pounds lost.
2) If come 1st July I have put on weight I would match the average pledge x 2000
I will be doing weekly results regardless from now on as it motivates me more.

I wish you the best of luck, i know its hard to lose weight, and its hard when you have a good loss then relax to much and start eating things that you shouldnt.
Have you tried the Slimming world Diet, im on this at the moment and find it so easy, never fill hungy, with a good result.
Nice to see your getting back on track, i was told "if you have a bunch of flower and 1 or 2 flowers die, you dont throw the whole bunch away.

You are doing well Pokerron , i know its not easy ( sis trying to diet ) , she put a pic of herself at her largest on her fridge , helped her willpower no end .

The way you should look at it is that you haven't put any weight back on
Keep up the good work.

I planned to get on a diet with Sherriff, but I let him down, and myself (sorryt Curtis). Howver lost more than a stone with pure stress in the last couple of weeks, perhaps I could have caught up.
Good luck pokerron, keep the faith up and the weight down.

Dieting is, really, all in the mind - you just need the will to do it.
Sling away all those stupid "proprietary" diets, & dieting books, the formula is absolutely simple. They will work ONLY if your mind is right - & if your mind is right, you don't need them, you can do it with simple common sense.
Here's the secret formula. EAT LESS. EAT SENSIBLE.
Do that, & the weight will drop. Guaranteed.
Now you use your mind games. Weigh yourself daily, put the weight on a graph, & as soon as that graph starts going in the right direction - it will start to drop within 72 hours - you have impetus, & feel better, you can see the results so clearly. Within 2 weeks, those tight trousers will start to feel comfy - another ego boost, & a great psychological booster. Within 4 weeks, the trousers will be too loose - this is a seminal moment in the diet, because you go & buy a smaller pair, put them on, look better & feel better - now you are hooked!
Before you start the diet, set a weight loss target & a date.
One more psychological trick. Once you get your mind in gear, challenge yourself to break the diet. I keep a small packet of Custard Creams - my fave biscuit of all time - on me or with me, 24/7. I DARE myself to eat one. So long as you do not give in, you KNOW you can beat this weight thing. I began my diet in Cardiff, February 4th, & my packet of Custard Creams has been with me, unopened, 24/7 since that day. Weird, I know, but the human mind is a wonderful but weird thing.
My particular eating pattern during dieting is a bit odd. A home cooked spag bol every day - a MASSIVE one, enough to feed 3 people - but use Lean Mince, max fat content 12%. And grapes - sometimes 2lb or 3lb a day. Every time I feel hungry, I eat some grapes.
Drinking - tea & coffee - is a big prob for me, maybe 20 mugs a day, each with 2 sugar. So sugar is out, & sweeteners are in. Sweeeteners are horrible - imo - so the end result is the 20 mugs a day becomes 3 or 4.
Everyone thinks I'm a fool for doing it this way, but a loss of 3 stone in 2 months & 6 days tells the answer. I conclude it this Friday, my original target date, & I'm as pleased as Punch.
But it's THEN that my problem starts - I shall immediately eat like a pig, wrong foods, too much, & by Christmas I will be back where I started. Daft, I know.
Good luck!

Let me offer you a colonic free of charge to help speed up the process and earn some more money for charity. You are only down the road from Northampton - as long as you are ok with me doing the procedure give me a pm or ring and I'll book you in.
Often I can give advice by just gleaning info from the questionnaire you fill out - lets get that old stuff out so you can hopefully speed up your metabolism, get rid of some toxins and give you more energy.
Understand if you are not sure - but if the premier division footballers can do it you are man enough too!
The colonic room is a bit like vegas - what happens in vegas stays in vegas - so you are assured of complete confidentiality in the colonic room (apart from the fact it's been offered on the forum!). More info on
www.colonicnorthampton.co.uk
(hope that's not spamming? If so please remove Mods - thanks.)
Hope you decide to come over,
Tracey

Lets have a sweepstake "guess the weight" or something like that, assuming you can weigh it. We'll gamble on anything and it helps charity. Go on go for it.
