the manager at my gym has proposed 'no music'. WTF.

There is a petition people can sign against it if they wish but can anyone think of any argument where you might call this right?

suppose the only argument is that if there's music then the people that prefer not to listen to anything don't have any choice.  If they introduce a 'no music' rule, then the people that want to listen to stuff still have the option to bring an ipod.

why not?

If I were ever to frequent a gym again, I'd prefer no music. Take my Ipod or plug headphones to listen to the telly if I want music

No way no how is that right.  Yer gym manager is an eejit.  Related to management at the G by any chance?

Ipods have become as bad as telly.  They stop people interacting with each other.

It just changes the whole atmosphere having a bit of motivational music on around the place.

In the weights room it makes the grunting and noise of weights more bearable. On days when the gym is quiet its easier to do a workout with some music on.

Ipods with wires etc are sometimes uncomfortable when doing certain things, and can be dangerous.

How often am I quiet?  Gym not going to be any different.

And I'm with Cos - Ipods are messy/uncomfortable when you're trying to properly work out.

Probably to do with not wanting to pay PRS any money.

Depends entirely on the music. Rage Against the machine - Right. Westlife - Wrong

Ipod cables a nightmare during a proper gym workout, maybe work ok during treadmill walking and similar 'exercise' ;p

So, so, so wrong.

Wrong or right - wearing those "I heart NY" t-shirts?

Ah well, least they aren't wearing these... http://upthear.se/jo (and yes, that link is legit, I might have found a new fave link-shortening site...)
