yeah saw that aftyer i posted but couldnt be bothered to change, only thing i can suggest is to try and practice as much as possible on the actual table you are going to be playing on, get used to the rolls and the cushions, oh and tryand get them to clean it just before he comes in will speed up the table and may throw him off for a few games

So you're playing English 8-ball on an American table?

Are they American sized balls which are much bigger than English pool balls?

If yes then you will need a thicker cue-tip, and I would imagine you should be playing American 8-ball rules which ought to be ball in hand as opposed to two shots for scratches.

If on the other hand you are playing with English pool balls on an American pool table I haven't got a clue.

Obviously spots n stripes?
Larger ball than Uk
if so use American pool cue a decent one to
rhino or carriage are good makes around £50-60
always leave your chalk on the table it drives some people mad
first few frames snooker him to death right from the get go even if u lose a couple of frames
snookering him every shot will drive him up the wall
also rake fooling ages everyshot that's the worst

My Dads business is renting, refurbishing and selling pool tables. They have a pool table in their office which they play every day, we have had a pool table in our house whenever they have too much stock and I spent most of my summers as a child hanging around his workplace.

Yet I am wank at pool. Its not fair.

I used to play alot and be ok at the game, so I can meet up for a game before you play if you want?

I'd echo buying a decent cue, but you'd be looking at £200+ for anything worth having for American pool. Depends on your standard as to whether it would make a big difference.

Use more stun and follow through type shots rather than screw back.

The cue ball is the same size and weight with Yanky balls so these shots are much easier to execute.

With English balls the screw shot is much easier because the white's tiny and bounces off the object ball.

Don't know about Greek balls.

Greek balls are just ridic hairy mate, makes them almost not worth playing with.

I used to be very good pool.

If its standard old rules (you can roll up behind a ball without hitting a cush) then snookering will be your key to certain victory.

If you are both petty gash then just pot balls as often as you can between now and then - Rack em up, smash them, then pot them all. Games between poor players usually come down to the last couple of balls so make sure you can pot them when it comes to it.
