I'll say it quietly because I don't want to get shouted at...
Wouldn't it be nice to have some added money to compensate for being on tv.
Just a thought.

In fact, they might not even allow the wearing of patches......

I'm not talking about alot of cash.
Just a wee bit to compensate the players for the annoyance of the cameras.
£2000?
Really don't know how players ever let it get to the point where a request for added money receives a "LOL" as an answer.
Can you think of another sport/game where the players shown on tv get zero for appearing?

Lack of a players body/negotiating team for the players in Poker...don't get that in many other games do you?
from the PFA through, the players everywhere else are represented by a trade body.
Poker players don't stand much of a chance in getting this value without it, I don't think

Sigh.
I was banging on about starting a players "union" about 10 years ago.
Needed someone with more get up and go than me to organise it though.

I imagine there are numerous lesser sports which are grateful for any TV coverage (to raise profile, & "be on telly") & do it for free, but I doubt many are inconvenienced by it as much as poker is.
You must nearly throw up in the WSOP ME when every "all-in & call" results in a 2 minute delay whilst they await the arrival of the ESPN floor crew, & then, while the 2 poor sods await their fate, they have to endure a further 45 second delay between flop & turn, & turn & river. (And 95% of those hands never get past the Edit Suite) That TV deal is absolutely HUGE, & effectively bankrolls the WSOP, but the players get diddly-squat - but here's the thing - nobody complains, they are all happy to accept it. Go figure.

In the context of the DTD events though is there not a huge difference?
Most sports people tune into see the favourite teams / players?
I cant see many people tuning into see Barry Neville swearing at Wadey on a Saturday night?

When I went deep in the WSOP main event I was involved in huge allin hand on Day 5 with Jeff Kimber.
We must have waited for 5 minutes for the tv cameras to come over and film the hand.
The wait was so painful, like being in the dock and waiting to hear the verdict.
I have been on tv tables a few times and it is a royal pain in the arse.

When I first suggested a players union there was no such thing as sponsored pros.

Then why do they want to televise an event?
There must be a market for it.
A small nod to the people provding the content of the programme is not unreasonable.

Actually youve changed my mind Keith. If there is demand for it then the players are providing the content and should receive something.
When I first thought about it, it was more the fact I cant imagine anyone wanting to watch it that made me think people shouldnt be paid.
This is obviously wrong or they wouldnt be filming it.
Maybe Mr Kendall could give me an idea of what sort of viewing figures and maybe even a rough idea of what Virgin whoever would be paying to show this?

Can't think of anything I'd rather watch than Barry Neville and Wadey conversing.
Question to Tighty/Mods - What is Jonny Hewston's involvement with DTD now? Is there a formal arrangement? I saw him organising some sort of TV sit n go the other week.
