This year’s Dusk Till Dawn Monte Carlo Event, is being produced as a pilot televised show, with a view to airing future larger buy-in tournaments at Dusk Till Dawn in 2011. The event is planned to be broadcast on one of the mainstream UK television channels (details to follow)
Last year’s tournament attracted 300 runners, and despite a very strong field of seasoned professionals, the eventual winner was local favourite Waheed Ashraf, who walked away with the £93,113 first prize
The structure will be the same as last year, mirroring the Pokerstars EPT Grand Final in Monte Carlo. Simon Trumper, Live Poker Director, believes it is better not to make too many changes to the clubs annual event:
“This will be our third year running this event. We realise its pretty close to Christmas, and there have been a number of major events in London over the past month. However, the date has worked very well for us so far. It doesn’t clash with any other major tournaments, and it falls nicely on the clubs 3rd birthday! We will announce a number of live and online satellites over the next few weeks which will allow players to qualify for a fraction of the buy-in.”

why?
Think it was after the £58k overlay?
They said it was delayed, and then said it had been cancelled.
Only vague memories though, so I will shut up and let someone who knows answer.
Agree with Paul Ho Ho Ho Ho about the satellites though.
The 10+10+10+10+10 one was amazing, hope they run one of those again.
Cant play the 17th so no point playing the comp, but might play a sat if you can split it into 3 £300 entries.

Didn't the Bellagio one have double the buyin and a £500,000 guarantee? After the first one had a £50kish overlay I think it's fair enough that they decided to scale back a bit. The last thing we want is DTD putting the event on and having a possible £100,000+ overlay.
They did well with the MC last year, breaking the £250,000 gte iirc. Given they spend all year running £300 events I think ending the year with a £1000 event is the way to go.

well after they made a big fanfare of their "£1MILLION GTD!!!" over 3 tournaments or whatever it was, no i don't think it's fair enough to just drop the flagship tournament without saying anything. i get spam emails and facebook messages every couple of days about everything else going on with DTD but heard absolutely nothing about this in the last year, which incidentally was one of the tournaments that actually had me excited.

from memory i think it was canned ages ago (maybe even before last year's MC), there was some sort of low key announcement about which i'll try to find when i finish work.
would be nice to qualify for the MC again, great comp imo.

I put off (or canned) the Bellagio £2k event after the £88k of overlays online and live for the July £1k event, we kinda saved some face with 313 runners for the next 1k Monte Carlo at the end of last year.
For sure, we will return to the Bellagio concept, maybe in 2011, I personally want the challenge of a higher buy-in event each year at the club, but I also dont wanna go bust. Nick and Simon have to rein me in sometimes with the GTE's and buy-ins, and rightly so, we are still a young business and have to walk before we can run sometimes.
If the TV deal comes off next year, we will have to put a number of £1k events on, plus a high roller £2 to £5k event, so watch this space. I dont think we have the liquidity to do this without mainstream TV.
We are designing the sats this week, live and online, for the Monte Carlo in December, I wanna be able to get players in for as lower sat buy-in as possible, but just need to go through the numbers with the team. Its very important that this Monte Carlo goes well, as its the official pilot for the TV deal next year, we are happy to chuck a few quid at sats.
Cheers Rob
