I hve BMW 320D from 2007

Got stranded over the weekend with a warning signal of a padlocked steering wheel - steering wheel locks and car not starting.

Into a garage with it today - been quoted £877 to replace the whole sterring column as there's a 'fault' with the unit.

Just wondered if these things are so modularised today that replacement of the whole thing is the only option or does anyone know of repairers who will actually take these apart, fault find and fix

Thanks

If you have full BMW Service history your local BMW dealer may be able to get some goodwill off BMW. If your 2007 car is under warranty
then you will be fine.

Are you the person to my left that I knocked out at the weekend £100k ?

If it was, my daughter would like to play you heads up. Any time after school you like.

Regards

M

I was 2 to your left and the pleasure of knocking me out went to someone else :-) Anyway, wtf did you do with that stack ?

Unforch Im a few months out of warranty.

Is 'replace the whole thing' pretty standard now

I would have a good go at your local dealer for some goodwill.

I pissed away my stack being greedy plus I was tired and stupid
