i did until yesterday. i was doing 68 in a 40 and got 3 pts and a £60 fine. I was pretty happy with that, i thought punishment would be more severe. Did he go easy on me?

You were going 68 in this weather? This is normal for just over the speed limit, but going this far over the limit u might have got more severe punishment.

The road was fine, its not been bad in Manchester up until overnight last night. Its the end of the m56 so its a bit different to flying down a residential street.

when i was 18 and even stupider than i am now, i got caught doing over 70 in a 30, delivering pizzas without business insurance. he breathalysed me, said he knew it was a straight road but i should slow down as people might be crossing and let me off.
times have changed but the roads have too. that road now has 3 sets of lights, a chicane thingy and had a camera up for a few years. would be impossible to do that speed these days.

Did he go easy on me? sounds like it - I got same for doing 49 in a 40 zone through a temp restriction on the M40 at 2am last year with no option of a course or anything.
