http://news.bbc.co.uk/sport1/hi/football/europe/9225097.stmAjax captain Luis Suarez has accepted a seven-match ban for biting PSV Eindhoven midfielder Otman Bakkal's shoulder in Saturday's 0-0 league draw.
His club, who have unilaterally fined and banned the Uruguayan for two games, will not appeal against the punishment.
Suarez will be sidelined domestically until 4 February next year, but remains eligible for European competition.
That's always puzzled me. Someone does something ridiculous like this, and they're still allowed to compete in other competitions. If they'd been caught taking drugs in a domestic game, they'd be banned from all competitions - but biting someone's shoulder doesn't. I guess it's under the control of the domestic football association and UEFA isn't interested in domestic incidents with regards to European football?
Also what possesses a footballer to bite an opposition player?
