The email address that I use for work has 42374 new messages, and the number is rising rapily.
I can't open any of them or do anything else because I can't get beyond the welcome screen.
I did manage to go to "Unopened mail" briefly via my phone, and as far as I could see all the emails came frome the same source (An acquaintance from work)
My private email is fine.
Any Ideas.
PS- I've tried turning it off and on.
Afterthought..... I recently added both emai accounts to my phone, could that have anything to do with it?

Who do you use for your work email? If it's not a third-party provider, you might have to speak to someone at 'work' in the IT department and get them to remove some of the emails directly from the server.

Your colleague gets in wrong when trying to set up a manual rule that does a reply-all to incoming messages saying 'I'm on my hols now'. Someone sends them a message the includes you in the To: or cc:.

It sounds like this is what has happened. If so, would others on the list be simerly affected? 50k + emails the last time I managed to access the welcome screen, now I can't even do that. Is there anything I can do?

Have you tried turning it off and not bothering to turn it back on again?

I've seen this happen before when a mail server went crazy. Pity the poor woman who had sent an email to hundreds of people who had each got it thousands of times. She was getting annoyed people ringing her up for weeks!

Apart from wait for the corporate email admins to spot it and terminate her account with extreme prejudice, probably not.

WIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIII
My daughter bridie cured it by logging in via a 3rd party server, deleting over 100,000 emails, and blocking the sender.
