Stato has had an exciting invitation. He's been invited to be in the 30th Anniversary COUNTDOWN CHAMPION OF CHAMPIONS EVENT OIOI !!!!
He's been grinding the internet countdown (apterus) the last few days to get his tekkers up to scratch. Pretty hilarious rail, he's playing another past champ online atm called Tom Rowell, the guys getting pounded, stato's such a beast! #houseload
We're all going up for the recording next month, meet Rachel Riley etc, should be a hilarious day watching him in his element with all the other champs!
Stato should be pronounced "state oh"?
This is how I've pronounced it since I've known the big man, but after about 2 years I was corrected/laughed at and told its "Stat Oh"

Horrible spot because despite knowing Ed is smart most of the time its +45 occasionally +32 and now and again like 18 surely?
Although i guess thats without Ed asking for a price.
The casino I'm a regular at has a promotion where if aces get cracked you get to spin a wheel. Last night the wheel had 2 jackpots (3400ish) and 8 prizes varying from rake free nights to £5 in points. At what point should it effect my decision stack size wise in what to do? Would you just play as normal unless presented an obvious +ev spot. The wheel is supposedly getting put to 3/10 tonight? Change much now? Bear in mind i buyin for £200 normally, but aren't afraid to topup or get involved, so stacks can reach £800 eff easily.
Would you do any deals with other regs in this spot?

EV on spinning the wheel is ~£680 if there are two chances to win the £3400 and it is a 'fair wheel'
EV with 3 shots at £3400 is now ~£1020 with the fair wheel.
Basically, never fold your aces on any board with £1000 effective stacks if you're rolled for the game

Update on a few things:
1) Goulden Odds - Ran 2 books so far, took £500-£600 worth of bets on both, and both made a decent loss (less than £1k total, but more than 500 I think). Events won by Phil Hellmuth and Pete Wigglesworth so definite "upsets". Blonde member Lion Rampant has been the only double victory, spinning his £20 investment into £540! Enjoying it, not put off by earlydoors variance...
2) Deciding whether the £10k victory from Riga will be used to play slightly higher (= taking larger pieces in myself in bigger events, mainly thinking of Prague in december for the EPT, WPT and GSOPlive) OR to just use as insurance for my stable which may have been over-stretched before. Probably a bit of both. If I was really keen I could spent the money on coaching and try and win at 400-1k NL online
No idea whether I would win right now (I suspect NOT) or how much coaching would be required to get me to being a winning player.
3) GYM - the plan was to join post-Latvia. It's 2pm and I'm still in bed, but there's still time...
4) Bobby has started at Oxford last week - loving it
5) Had my watch stolen in Latvia
Was a present from my parents for my 21st birthday, really upset about that. It got stolen off my wrist by some clever little fucker because one minute it was on, the next it wasn't
6) Looking forward to Sky Poker 6max this weekend. Not much else planned this month yet. Might do some trips to London for some 2/5 5/10 action.

Hourly ev needs to be higher than my current winrate then... Tap ins galore.

I'd offer a handicap challenge. Played from scratch Stato has to win 10 whole games of Countdown to win the challenge, and Ed has to win 2. Ed seems like a really clever chap, and he'd probably whip my butt at Countdown - but I'd have Stato as favourite in that challenge.

Disagree, I think Ed or anyone might be drawing dead to win 1 game out of 100 from scratch, whereas with a headstart in each game the games would be close.

We have some leftover Latvian currency, a decent amount so don't want to get too screwed on the exchange rate. Any ideas about best places to go? I'm thinking ringing up a few places and saying I have Lats, what rate will you buy them off me for?

I think you mean you agree
That's why I was offering that challenge
