5 years ago today I was at the pinnacle of my school days, it was the annual concert where the creme de la creme of the school musicians each played a solo concerto with the orchestra or wind band. Being part of this elite 4 or 5, was a dream I'd had since I joined the school at 11. I played the second and third movements of Shostakovichs 2nd piano concerto, and it was pretty much my happiest memory from my school days.
Tonight it was Bobbys turn, he played the first movement of Rachmaninovs 2nd concerto (funnily enough the same piece that I've just finished learning, just a different movement). The whole family had come together to support him, it was awesome. The whole concert was such a high standard, it's not like your typical school orchestra - they're seriously good and watching Bobby in his element was a real joy - he stole the show. Was so proud of him
Been fun seeing loads of family and old faces, bumped into some school teachers. One asked what I did and his reaction made me wanna punch him in the face - "All that work...". Gfy sir.
Another poker break, although I think it's good for me - I can feel myself starting to play bad and thinks its because I've been on such a big upswing. I feel invincible, I just think I'm gonna hit every flop, outplay everyone etc...and I'm starting to make some spewy plays. But at least I've noticed it early so hopefully can nip it in the bud without too much harm.
Looking forward to putting in 3 big cash sessions this weekend.
