Got contact lenses today. Spent so long trying to get them in and out, it was the most frustrating, tilting thing. Really difficult touching your eyeballs etc and they just keep watering and I have to blink and it made me really angry lol.

Holy shit, that's exactly what I went through today! First try out for contacts for me. My eyes aren't that bad that I need them to see all the time, just distance stuff.  The only thing I can read off the screens at dtd usually is the clock itself unless I'm sat right under one.

The worst was trying to get them out by squeezeing your eyeball. Gross. Only wore them for 4 hours tonight and my eyes are a bit sore. I guess this will pass after a few goes. Glgl.

I spent 6 months trying to get used to inserting, & removing, contact lenses. During that period I ended up at A & E 3 times, due to poking & prodding my eyeballs with my finger. I eventually gave up.

Hope you do better than I did Alex, & Maria.

Laser surgery?

That's what I plan on doing when I get back to the uk. Fed up of all these extra eyes.

I'd be way too scared to have that Cos. I know it sounds daft, but the thought of the eye bloke having a bad day & burning my eyeballs out really frightens me. It's not like we can get another pair.

The success rate is so good these days tho teeks, it'd be like refusing to fly anywhere because you could 'crash'.

I write this as I'm sitting aboard a flight to KL. Should probably delete and try to forget the analogy...

It took me until my 30's to summon the courage to get into an aeroplane, I was shit scared at the thought. Eventually I booked a flight, & my then young lady & myself flew to Hawaii. Just the 22 hour maiden flight then.

Why are you flying to Kings Lynn?

PS - Safe flight Mr P.

I've been wearing contact lenses for over 20 years; the last 12 or so of those have been with extended wear lenses. They just stay in your eye for 1 month, no overnight removal. Your eyes need to get used to lenses, doesn't take that long. I'd recommend them if they suit you.

Funnily enough the wife had laser surgery a couple of months ago. Worked fine for her, but she was on the verge of needing reading glasses, and still does. Laser fixed the myopia, but the age-related close-up stuff can't really be fixed. If you're young enough and your prescription is stable I'd say go for it, I kind of wish I'd done it 15 years ago, but cba now.
