greyhound threads on blonde used to be a good crack and also very informative but since the banishment of the likes of rookie, mcbag and bolt interest died a wee bit.

i know there are a few blondes out there who still enjoy the fantastic sport of greyhounds and here's hoping we can resurrect the topic here.

Sky's excellent coverage begins tomorrow evening with the final of the betfair prestige stakes, i will post my selections/bets for the evening somewhere between now and then.

be great if as well as people posting their fancies we get some greyhound talk going past and present.

here's hoping

I'll certainly be interested in following it, but know pretty much feck all about it. Just never took to picking up on form etc on the dogs like I did with the horses.
Have only been to Hove on social nights out, though usually end up with a small profit.
Don't go regulalrly at all nowadays, but noticed the last time I went that are still plenty of the 'droopy's ' dogs about down there

My Dad used to have a greyhound which ran called Pebble Dasher. It was mev, all black and used to win its fair share of races and my 16 year old self would get involved with a £20 win single.

It still lives with my parents now, although its been renamed Dill, not sure wtf that is about.

ok well on to tonight, hall green a track i have never been to but looks nice enough and seems to attract most of the top dogs so must be a decent running track.

tonights selections

7.40pm
the night begins with a puppy event.mark wallis has a bitch in this so has to be respected but i favour the 6 dog here saxon warrior. progressed nicely through the grades at monmore and looks perfectly drawn here with 5 having a habit of tracking to the rails on the run up. a repeat of an excellent trial would be enough
selection:trap 6 saxon warrior 9/4 nb

8.00pm
stayers event over 645 made up mainly of dogs that failed to reach the prestige final at 9.40pm. looks a 2 dog race to me between 2 barnfield rocky and bower surfer. rocky ran well last week but suprisingly failing to last home and narrowly failing to qualify for the final. surfer on the other hand ran a poor race behind te favourite for the final my opinion is he may have just needed the run.
in the past surfer has normally got the better of rocky, he is a faster animal when things go right and tonight i think they will.
selection:trap 3 bower surfer 5/2

8.15pm
a hurdles event over 480 metres sees a lot of the usual suspects in opposiltion. first thing i noticed was how far big strong pup is from the rail, which instantly had me trying to make a case for the 6 dog (which i cant). not a race to get hugely involved in but il side with the class dog in the race sizzlers spirit hoping he avoids pup early.
selection:trap 4 sizzlers spirit 7/4

8.35pm
the sprint race over 258 metres sees alot of the big names missing, no juimmy lollie, rotar wing, king lee or slick citi to contend with it gives a chance for up and coming speedsters to stake a claim.jolly poacher has been around a while successfully reverting from 4 bends back to 2 bends but my feeling is he is drawn to far from the rail to trap as smartly as he can. this race is all about the draw and redbrick droopy drawn red can blast out hold its position at the bend win this.
selection:trap 1 redbrick droopy 9/4

8.50pm
an 8 bend marathon other 892 metres. i love bitches in these races especially bitches in form. ministry magpie has beaten ayamzagirl fair and square at both romford and crayford in recent weeks and i expect her to confirm that superiority tonight from an ideal birth.
selection:trap 1 ministry magpie 6/4

9.10pm
another 645 metres contest over 6 bends.odell faith has been in great form at nottingham and looks a force to be reckoned with over these sort of distances but didnt impress here when beaten favourite last week. bodell clare was also disappointing when leading last time and wouldnt normally get caught. its bodell clare for me, i think she is just about ready to show her true running and a trap to line win looks on the cards.
selection:trap 1 bodell clare 2/1

9.25pm
a 4 bend contest. freedom emma is a fantastic bitch and definatly the class of the race but my preference is for the dog in red diesel malc.an emphatic winner of an open at harlow last time and has trialed well here.from a good draw i see him blasting clear.
selection :trap 1 diesel malc 3/1 nap

9.45pm
the big race of the night over 645 metres. he went whoosh is never to far away in these races and neither is farley zack. trap 2 and favourite blue bee was very impressive in the heats and i think he will confirm his love of the track with a successful run. he has a bit in hand on the clock and as long as clear early will win.
selection:trap 2 blue bee 7/4

well thats it, no real big prices im afraid so hoping to cop a few together in multiples. have done a mixture of selections in a yankee and 3 trixies for a total outlay of £115 so lets gogogo!
am working the club tonight so will be sky plussing and watching when i get home around midnight.

I seem to remember the market being very strong in the ring at Hall Green.

One of the few tracks where the ring prices were better than on BF, well they were last time.

Freedom Emma is my only selection so far on what looks a mediocre card to me at first glance.

blue bee looks very good, one to watch in staying events in 2011. to stayers turned behind him and made no impression.
