Depends on what type of poker you want to play.
Try Harrington on Hold 'em 1 by Dan Harrington or Getting Started in Hold'em by Ed Miller.
Super System is mostly good as a piece of history nowadays- some of the games described aren't played any more, and of the others, only Hold'em is played regularly. If you want to learn Hold'em, other books will be better as a starting place.

What are you playing? Cash, tournaments or sit n gos?
To be honest I would say that I read a few poker books when I first started playing a few years back but leart more by reading and posting on this forum in the PHA section, there are some very good players who will give great advice. I have not read any books for a while but most would now be pretty outdated to modern Internet poker.

Harrington on Hold 'em probs still a good starting place.
Super System definitely not lolz. It actually advises you play the hand immediately after winning a pot regardless, to "play the streak". Good logic there. Revolutionary 30 years ago, irrelevant now.

I actually think ss has more in common with most extremely shorthanded deep cash games than anything else ever put into print.
regardless, dont waste your money on books mate, print off some good material from 2+2

Better than any books I have ever read anyway, although as I said I have not read any for a few years. Does anybody know of a good book that gives a full explaination of how to use ICM, that would be worth reading I guess? Harrington sort of does it but does not go into enough detail really imho.
