Wp on recent results, I am very much the same when it comes to taking shots, 'he who dares wins' and all that - The fact is, this will only end in tears and heartache, my best advice to you, would be to go steady and ensure you have enough $$ to just keep playing, that way, the more volume u play, the more things u will learn/improve, the more results u will get.
As long as you have money to keep playing, then u always have that chance to win something big, it is hard to adopt this mentality, and I still can't do it, had plenty of chances too. If u are serious about wanting to be one of the best in this game, you do need to change the shot taking to a certain extent.
If u wanna shot take, I would say play sat's for big live tourneys, if u lucky enough to get in then who knows... Only takes one big tourney to change your life - GL
Cheers great post. Decided I will stop taking shots.
I have around 25% return on investment or better on all the sites i play. If i just use a safe enough bankroll management, where the swings will never endanger me, i will climb the ladder with much more ease than i am at the minute. Plus i would enjoy myself a lot more in the process and play a better game. Not really ever played in comfort knowing i could have 3 bad days if i wanted to and it would still be a drop in the ocean.
My ideal midweek grind is around 3000-4000 dollars a night outlay, so with a 25k bankroll, i want to reduce that to 1500. Whats more i want to increase the amount of tourns i play further reducing variance, to around 12-16 tables for a 10 hour grind. Would imagine that is about 60 tourns, but i don't know. So 1500/60= 25 dollars.
With my previous routine my average was more like 70 dollars. The average now SHOULD be 25 dollars, but i have to include certain tournaments that are high in ROI despite a lofty buy in. Mainly high buy in low entrants tourns i consistently crush. Been ignoring these to chase the skrilla in the variance ridden world of Pokerstars. Going to go back to basics and try to play an average of 25 dollar tourns, but with random outliers of complete value that are low in variance by theory ie. they are low runners and soft. Which basically means 25 dollars won't be the average lol, probably around 40.
Would have to think about too what tourns to play and set up a new routine, with my current routine to be saved for further down the road. The main bulk will be low buy in turbos between 11-30 and 5rs with the standards being only as low as 22 and as high as 55 with the occasional 75.
Obviously there is going to be flaws in the theory behind my new attempt at bankroll management from the get go, but should be able to see what to improve as i go along. Above is just me thinking aloud
Going to enjoy the lower limits more, enjoy playing, try to start playing as many tables as possible, but comfortably and see where i get. I am sick of the swings, hopefully with my new course they should feel fine.
