I'm not sure anyone will be interested or be able to help but before i go down the usual route of specialist dealers , collectors , Ebay etc i thought i would mention i have these items that i would rather they go to someone who will cherish them as much as the guy they came from at fair prices.
Basically, a friend of mine does house clearance and last year cleared everything from an ex Pan Am pilot, somehow i agreed to buy it all like you do when you have had a win lol.
All the furniture , bric a brac has gone and i am left with the following.
Signed vinyl LP's , Yul Brinner , Bing Crosby and Elvis Presley ( this one is particularly nice as Elvis wrote " my sincere thanks " so i assume he flew with him.
There are 3 leaf paintings ( oil on dried leaves ) of Indian godesses ( have to be seen to be believed, stunning ) from Satgurus Bombay , i am guessing 60's / 70's mint condition , spoke to the company and they told me only one man was capable of painting these and he has since died.
Pan Am memorabilia unlike anything on Ebay apart from the playing cards , sealed as new , eg Note blocks with planes on the side , ashtray , Givenchy perfumes , several leather / cloth first class flight bags totally complete unused. Engineer overalls and many other things.
As a pilot he flew all over the world and over approx 35 years 51 - 86 accumulated an enormous stamp collection , i haven't time to go through it, there are at least 10,000 to 15,000 stamps sorted by year / country eg Vatican / first day issues , both unused and franked either on sealed envelopes or postcards , the ones i like have either been sent from Heathrow or inflight on Pan Am envelops and postcards , he used to send them to Germany and England and always kept a set of mint unused as well. I have been advised to break it up but it seems such a shame to do that, none of the stamps have been catalogued so someone who is passionate about this would love to go through all these.
Also have pilots headset.
Anyway just a shot in the dark that maybe someone on Blonde will be interested in any of this, if so PM me or come and see me at the club, when i get a couple of hours i will try and list some of the stamp collection.
Cheers
Simon
