Very occasionally I do things which seem like pure genius and today was one of those days, so I am going to impart my joy with you all so that you too can perhaps find an hour of happiness this weekend
I have just had an extended lunch break and I recommend that you all put 1 hour aside this weekend to do the following:
Step 1 - Find a music album you havent listend to for AT LEAST 5 years, but one which you really enjoyed and listened to loads "back in the day"
Step 2 - Put on said music
Step 3 - sit back relax and enjoy - and I mean this bit (driving and meanial housework also allowed at same time) - but you must be allowed to enjoy the music and let it take you away
The important part here is the "not listened to bit" - so not "the Stone Roses" - because you will have heard some of the tracks in the mean time
My choice was "The Black Crowes" "Shake your Money Maker"
(it beat Jesus Jones and Cast "All Change")
I hope this takes you back and that you enjoy your hour!

well I like your tip!
I'm driving up to Luton later - gonna rake through the old CDs first and see what I can find.

right. This evening I'll be mostly listening to David Gray's White Ladder. Must be 10 years since I listened to it pretty much every day for a couple of months before leaving it to gather dust.

I really liked David Gray until I went to see him live. He was singing one of his famous songs when he stopped in midstream and said to the audience, "If you really must sing a long, for fucks sake get it right". Primadonna Wanker.

I got dragged along to see him live a couple of years after i'd lost any interest (and wouldn't have been the type of live act I'd choose to see in any case due to zero jumping around spilling my pint opportunities). No primadonna antics from what I remember, but whole thing was incredibly yawn inducing - guy at piano wobbling his head around for two hours. zzzzzzzzz.

I went to see him right at the peak of his popularity, probably actually thought he was the new Bob Dylan or whatever at the time. Still, Babylon is a great song.
