Interesting thing I found on the USA Today website.

http://content.usatoday.com/sportsdata/baseball/mlb/salaries/team

You can search through the payrolls for all the NFL, NBA, MLB, NHL and MLS teams to see how much everyone gets paid.

David Beckham get paid more per year than the total payrolls of any other team, which is pretty redic.

Something like this in football here would be pretty sweet.

This was one of the bi-products of the current NFL labor dispute.

Very odd, I always think, the land of the free with huge capitalist sports owners and media companies has the most socialist policies with regards to many of its sporting leagues where the aim in drafting, salary caps and TV money distribution is to ensure everyone gets equal, the leagues are unpredictable. Exception: MLB roster salaries

Tighty, what is the latest with the dispute?
In your enlightened opinion will they play this year?

Great find Mr T.

Do they have massive transfer fees as well as the huge salaries (like in footy over here)?

I'm not Tighty, but I've been following this with interest, so here's my take.

They're currently in court-enforced mediation at the moment, whilst the judge also considers the hearing held on April 6th, which she advised would take about 2 weeks to rule upon.  Mediation discussions have been described as 'tough' and the two sides have basically been forced into them after failing to take up the voluntary option.

It's fully expected that, regardless of which way the judge rules, the other side will appeal the ruling so nothing will be 'decided' at that point and the appeal could run into months.

In the meantime, the NFL Draft continues as normal next Thursday, except for the fact that no players can be traded as part of draft deals so the teams can only trade draft picks with each other (including future picks, i.e. 2012, but no-one knows the true value of these as the new CBA is expected to include some form of rookie salary cap, thus putting an end to the $50m+ guaranteed type deals that Sam Bradford got in 2010).  Free agency normally preceeds the draft so there'll be a different dynamic this time around due to the lockout issues.  The other big difference is that, post-draft, no-one will be able to sign undrafted rookie free-agents as usual, which is usually a very active market for the pre-season rosters.

As for whether there's any play this season, it's anyone's guess at the moment.  Although the season is still a few months away, they'll soon start eating into the OTA's and Mini-Camp sessions if nothing gets resolved.  It's difficult to see how they can simply 'concertina' the usual pre-season preparation, plus all the free agency issues, into a severely curtailed time-scale so it might end up being a shortened season.

Fascinating, frustrating and mystifying - it has everything, apart from actual football!

Couple of teams seem to be missing here.  Surely Henry for New York will be earning a fair whack too.

The list is based on 09' salaries.

Massive sigh at some of the salaries being paid to Dolphins and Cubs players.
