Grinding like cheap brake pads on a Mk IV Cortina.

I hope Alex doesn't mind, but I've copied this to here from PHA so as not to spoil his thread.
The thing is, as far as I'm concerned, this post might just as well be in Swahili.
Can someone please translate it for me line by line? (I've tried babel fish and drawn a blank)
