I guess we all got the email just now about the ticketing:
"Thank you for applying for London 2012 Olympic tickets. As you will be aware, we have started to allocate tickets and are now taking payment from Visa credit and debit cards, as well as banking cheques and postal orders.
The vast majority of payments will be taken by next week (31 May), with the entire process completed by 10 June.
We will contact you before 24 June to let you know if you have been successful and, if so, which tickets you have been allocated.
Second chance sales
There will be another chance to apply for tickets – we are calling this ‘second chance sales’.
If you have not been allocated any tickets in the initial process, you will have the first chance to apply for tickets. This will be followed by a further chance for those who were allocated some or all of their ticket requests.
Second chance sales will include tickets for lots of great sport including Basketball, Beach Volleyball, Boxing, Canoe Sprint, Cycling (Women’s Mountain Bike), Football, Handball, Hockey, Taekwondo, Volleyball, Weightlifting and Wrestling. So there are plenty of other chances to be part of the greatest show on earth.
Card payments
Visa payments will only be taken for successful applications. If your card has been lost or stolen or there are any issues with collection of payment, we will contact you by 10 June 2011 to arrange an alternative Visa payment. "
Er no!!
But i did get an email from someone called Phil offering me scratch cards and viagra

For those that have ordered tickets to more obscure events, you can make a good guess if you have got tickets by looking at the website of the German ticket resellers.
http://www.dertour.de/olympia-2012/tickets-buchen.html
You can switch to the english version and it lists all the events you can still get guaranteed tickets for.
This morning there was still some category AAs for the Men's boxing finals. I don't know if Tom Daley does synchronised diving, but there are still pricey tickets available for that.
In a moment of stupidity I decided that there was a good chance I would get tickets for something if I applied for the finals of the canoe slalom, and I thought I would increase my chances if I applied for 2 days...and it would be even better if I put a range of ticket prices. Looking at that website I think there must be a good chance I got both days. Everything else I applied for looks like it has gone to the ballot.
Don't suppose anybody needs category A tickets for the canoe slalom either on the 1st or 2nd August 2012? Good GB medal chances!
Still I suppose I should be glad I didn't order a bucket full of handball tickets

I should add that anybody in the EU is entitled to buy through that website, though they seem to have some pretty stinking booking fees. The cheapest UK prices were £20, the cheapest on that site is 32 euros, and I think they even mark up canoe slalom tickets by close to 50%.

I think The Times did a tabloidy crappy article about how other countries are 'clearly' handling things so much better than us because people can just go on their website and order straight away instead of all the faffing about we have over here.
Obviously they pretended that it wasn't a mad click-fest for all the premium tickets when it first went live, ignored the fact that the demand over here is many many multiples of what the demand in Germany (et al) is and skirted around the fact that it was a lot more expensive and that all the information about buying from other EU Olympic associations (and them buying from us) is on the Olympics website - so not exactly a difficult piece of detective work to uncover it to start with.
The prices were interesting because on the London Olympics website it says that the mark up they can charge is capped - but I think they got around this by being a bit creative about when they picked the exchange rate from.

Slightly de-railed, but couldn't help notice Paul's avatar. If that is Original Source Mint and tea-tree, I just bought some and I strongly recommend you DO NOT use that on delicate areas. My helmet was absolutely singing afterwards...

Disagree. Love the original and moved to this hoping for an extra burn if anything. Couldn't feel a thing and not nearly as refreshing.
