Hi All

I have now lived in Nottingham for 4 years and hardly played since 2005.

I have started to write about how i got into poker and for those that have never heard of me this was the introduction.

I started playing poker in Reading in £10 events in 1995 , in March 1996 i went to the Vic in London and at my first festival made 3 finals winning £7000+ including playing my first ever No Limit tournament , the £500 Main Event where i finished 4th.

My first real major success was at the 1997 European Championships at The Vic in London , finishing 1st , 2nd , 3rd and 4th in four different events with fields in each of 170+ winning £28,000.

In 2001 i won the £1000 No Limit European World Series Of Poker Trial played over 4 days in Vienna in March , returning to Vienna in June to win a second £1000 No Limit event , this took over 11 hours having started at 6pm , I had first played and lost a 5 hour match in the World Heads Up Championship before entering , for this feat i won the 2001 inaugural European Poker Award for " Performance of the Year " .

In June 2001 i played my third straight European £1000 No Limit event in Paris , the Grand Prix de Paris and came 2nd . Imagine having form like that in todays events!

I then hit a wall between 2002 and 2003 documented in my well published article "Tournament Rollercoaster " ( will feature in one of my next blogs ) but in March 2004 i bounced back with a 22 month £200,000 sponsorship deal with UK Betting which finished in December 2005 , during this time i won some small No Limit events but my main success came in Pot Limit Omaha , i topped the European Rankings in 2004 and finished 4th in 2005 , the highlights were 1st and 2nd in the €500 Pot Limit Omaha at The Master Classics in Amsterdam in consecutive years and inbetween 5th for $93,600 in the inaugural $10,000 Pot Limit Omaha at the 2005 WSOP. It was during this final that Rob and Nick who were railing first spoke to me about Dusk Till Dawn.

I was probably best known for being the most successful player on Channel 4's Late Night Poker , i played all 6 of the original series , a total of 9 times , winning both my heat and final in series 2 then coming 2nd in my heat in series 4 , winning the semi final which included Dave Colclough , Ram Vaswani , Pascal Perrault , Phil Helmuth , Kevon O Connell and Jon Shoreman ,then 2nd in the final to the great Hemish Shah. I also made the final of the relaunched version 3 years ago finishing 5th.

The Hendon Mob database shows i have won over $1,000,000 including making 25 No Limit finals with between £500 and £6000 buy in...

I am the first to admit i wouldn't be that successful today against the standard of players like Jake Cody , Toby Lewis and Sam Trickett !

I have many poker stories that i will share with you over the coming year. eg , how a WSOP computer game changed my whole perception of poker !

Great Post Simon......The only thing I disagree with is that youre selling yourself short saying you wouldnt be succesful against todays players..A different Dynamic I agree but the fundamentals remain the same
