Days 31 and 32 - Well done everyone who guessed correctly. Yes indeed, the friggin monitor is still nowhere to be seen.

If I thought it would do any good, I'd send this thread to Dell and say....
Look how few STT I've been playing because I've been sleeping at night (when I work) and staying up during the "no play zone" that is daytime to await your delivery. Ya big bunch of hi-tech pansies.

Another phonecall to be made tomorrow.
I'll be as civil as I can on the ol' dog and bone. I don't want to turn into my Mum. She always shouts at people on the the other end of the telephone. I believe that's self defeating to your cause most of the time. It's not usually the person on the end of the phone's fault (although it could be) and you want them on your side so they can help you sort whatever the problem is.

As with all things in life though, it's easier said than done. I'm fuming about this as I hate being lied to and this nonsense is costing me money. Making nice and refraining from swearing will be a big challenge for me.

I don't like regailing you with bad beat stories on this thread and this monitor palava I see as being something similar. I shant keep boring you if it all continues to go wrong. If it turns up and doesn't work I'll just keep schtum about it till the situation is resolved. It's all about the poker baby!

End result of being awake during the day means I only 21 played in these last 2 days. That's next to hee-haw.

Days 31 and 32 Results : +$214 (+$2,889.3 total)
ROI : 8.9% (after 540 tournaments played)

Not a great haul. My old, very unwelcome, friend the blank batch (4 tournaments with no cashes) reared it's ugly head again to prevent it being a much better result. Still, the way things have been going at the moment, I'm delighted with anything that isn't red.

One good thing about being awake during my "no play zone" is that I've had plenty time to review my recent play. (Keep looking for the positives Thomas)
A few things I've noticed, the main one being that I've been laying down a few hands which I shouldn't have. I'm feeling good about my play on the whole though.

The very last hand of the night goes to Dewi James, who finds ACES and talks Raymond O’Mahoney into calling his all-in preflop bet of 15k.  “If I had AQ, I’d call!” says Dewi.  Raymond calls holding pocket 66’s.

Maybe a little comment that you keep a blog (of sorts) about your attempt & it's read by a lot of poker players might make them move.

Tell them they're looking stupid in front of a proffessional (and amateur) group of hi-spec computer users & they have some work to do to get their reputation back....

this seems interesting, what have you discovered you are laying down?

A few too many hands 3, 4 and 5 handed when I've my opponent out-chipped and the blinds are big.

Not millions of them thankfully, usually my judgement is quite good but I feel it's a hole I need to plug. One mistake is too many.

The more I analyze desicions based of tournament equity, the better my judgement becomes. Post mortems improve your play enormously. Most of the time I keep my results to myself as I don't want to give away too much information on how I play. (I'll save that for when I win a bracelet and write a book  Cheesy )

Well I've raised them this morning. I informed them that if the monitor is not delivered this evening then they can come and take the whole computer back and give me a full refund.

I'm not sure what I'll do yet if they re-raise me all-in (by not delivering the monitor)

A computer delivery tale.

A few years ago I ordered a new computer with bells and whistles, including a surround sound speaker system.

A few days later it turned up, except they'd sent the wrong speakers, the ones I ordered were a more expensive model. I phoned them up and they said they'd send someone round with the correct speakers.

The next day I waited in for the delivery, with the speakers they originally sent all boxed up and ready to be taken away. The delivery man comes and drops off the new speakers. He turns to leave and I say, "aren't you going to take the old ones back with you?". He looks at his clipboard and says "It doesn't say anything here about collecting anything, just dropping off. I'll ask about it when I get back to the depot".

Of course, I never heard anything more and, to this day, have surround sound speakers for both my computer in one room, and my TV in another.

This is not a poker or computer story. Just a delivery story.

I ordered a MTB a few years ago online form a large Cycle company. After a week or so my bike arrived. I thought to myself, not bad a week for delivery.

A few days later, one of my neighbours came to the door and said they had excepted an delivery for a bike as I was out. Realising they had made a error I phoned straight away. They said they would come and collect it the following day and appologized.

I waited in the following day. Nobody appeared.

I went to work the next day and upon arriving home, my neighbour came to my door with a familiar looking box. Another bike.

Again I arranged for it to be collected and again nobody appeared.

At this stage I was getting abit angry and like Tank I bluffed them. I explained calmly that if nobody appeared at the arranged time to collect the two bikes, I would leaved them out in the street. In the area where I lived at the time, two £1000 bikes would last about 10 seconds.

My bluff worked and I was given a gift as an apology

Well done Tank for raiseing the game.  Sometimes you have to play hard ball with these people.

Days 33 and 34 - On Day 33 I put in a decent days work would you believe. 10+ hours of genuine bone-fide labour dealing at Cincinnatis. Upon returning home, even with the lure of new monitor to play with, the only thing I was thinking about testing out were my pillows.

Regular peeps who have to work every day have it tough. That's one of the reasons I try not to indulge myself by regailing you with bad beat tale after bad beat tale on this thread. I'm pleased to report that even if that were my modus operandi, I wouldn't be doing so in this update. There were not too many to gripe about on Day 34.  Cheesy

Shortly after I woke, Clair (my new monitor) was opened up to see what she was capable of. At her maximum resolution she easily fits 4 screens with no overlap and room to spare. I can squeeze 10 in such a way that none of the of the betting action buttons overlap. I tried 8 tabling at a much lower limit for a couple of batches. I found this not too different from playing a batch of 4 on my laptop.

But then......

I tried a regular batch of 4 $55's with the screens not overlapping in any way.  It makes such a gigantic difference that it's difficult for me to express in words. Suffice is to say, once you've experienced Clair's 24" of pixelly goodness, you'll never go back.  I'll be getting another one before I add playing more than 4 at a time to my repertoire.

In the meantime (monitor deliverys can take a while I hear) I'll still be able to increase my volume of play. Firstly, because it's much easier on my eyes now. I'll be able to put in longer sessions before I grow weary. Secondly, the spare brain power that's saved from flicking between screens will allow me to run the tournaments in a continous stream rather than batching them.

Days 33 and 34 Results : +$305.5 (+$3,194.8 total)
ROI :  9.5% (after 559 tournaments)

I only played 19 with all the experimenting going on today. Tomorrow, with hee-haw else on my agenda, I don't see me fitting in any less than 50. Then we'll be cooking with gas ladies and gentlemen.

I'm now able to pick up more information, which I might previously have missed if I were still playing on a smaller monitor. The ROI is creeping upwards again and I think/hope this trend will continue because of this.
