There was hype about this a couple of years back and it seems to be back in the sights with an alleged new report. loads of stuff on here about it http://www.iii.co.uk/investment/detail?display=discussion&code=cotn:RRL.L&it=le. I got my fingers burned last time i had a dip in oil shares. This seems to be very 50/50. Was 24p not long ago but obv down to 15.75p now. Not a huge amount of info on LSE about it. Majority of lucrative shares are high risk, high reward, but with a pretty low sp there isn't too much room to go down with this one. Worth dipping ya toe in imo. Might have a tickle myself. GL.

If they were definitely going to rise to 45p at xmas, they'd be about 44.8p now.

If they might rise 300% in 6 months, the current market price is basically saying that the odds on that are approx 600:1 based on current interest rates.

I'd rather go online and stick £10 on 1-12 on the roulette. Same return on my money and I wouldn't have to wait til xmas.

Then again, you might get lucky.

There was a thread here punting Desire Petroleum a while ago. I made similar arguments on that thread. They have tanked to about 1/10 of their value at the time. But I'm not one to be smug and say "told you so". Oh, wait...

It is a complete punt

Far more likely to be worthless than treble imo

If you must punt it, do so as you would a roulette wheel or a slot machine with money you can afford to lose only

As I also said on the Desire thread. Ignore all tips from those already holding the shares, internet tips boards.

So that's why that thread hasn't been bumped for a while!

Agree with this. As i said in previous post, any share which has the potential of high reward undoubtedly comes with high risk.

Just been sent this by a friend,

bought the texas oilfield for $1m a year ago. It's now worth $125m and rising. A company that can make deals like that is a company to watch
Per Barrel for Trinidad, after taxes and royalties, we will be earning between $25-$35 per barrel.

So on 1500 BOPD (Target for the end of 2011) That works out at $37,500 per day (@ $25 per barrel) and $52,500 (@ $35 per barrel).

For the 4000 BOPD - it works out at $100,000 (@ $25) and $140,000 (@ $35) per day.

RRL's eventual expectations for Trinidad is at least 10000 BOPD, once Herrera and known reserves are developed. This lovely quantity works out at between $250,000 and $350,000 per day to RRL, depending what price per barrel we get.

Obviously extraction and operating costs need to be then taken into consideration. As we own the 9 rigs etc the production costs will be reduced.

Be under no illusion, Trinidad is a company maker for RRL in its own right.

I will let more knowledgable posters than me work out what those type of figures 'should do the SP. But, if we reach 10000 BOPD eventually, that will produce around about $100M per year to Range.Range Resources shares worth 28 pence each, says broker Old Park Lane
2:38 pm by Ian Lyall

Old Park Lane points out that recent fracture stimulation work at the North Chapman Ranch Project in Texas has yielded “dramatically increased production from the Russell Bevly #1 well, while further “frack” work at the East Texas Cotton Valley Prospect will commence within a fortnight.

Range Resources (LON:RRL,ASX:RRL) spiked more than 8 per cent in afternoon trade after broker Old Park Lane initiated coverage of the stock with a buy and bullish 28.1 pence a share price target.

It follows a “very positive update” last week from oil and gas explorer, which has assets in the US, Caribbean, Georgia and Puntland in Somalia.
Old Park Lane points out that recent fracture stimulation work at the North Chapman Ranch Project in Texas has yielded “dramatically increased production from the Russell Bevly #1 well, while further “frack” work at the East Texas Cotton Valley Prospect will commence within a fortnight. Range has also finalised the details of an aggressive drilling programme in Trinidad which is expected to commence within the next 45 days.
“(Its) progress in Texas and Trinidad continues to de-risk the business while maintaining exciting exposure to highly attractive exploration upside in Georgia and Puntland.

“With Range participating in four high impact exploration wells over the next six months, we believe that investors should see the recent weakness in the share price as an opportunity to buy the shares.”
At 2.45 pm, the shares were up 1.36 pence at 17.11 pence each. In the past year the stock has registered a three-fold increase in value

ramping is when people over hype shares to get people to buy thus increasing the price of the shares they already purchased at a lower price. making easy money.

But you never know. Its always a gamble mate. Pessimists will be pessimistic.
