shearer didnt relegate newcastle, alex ferguson could of taken over with jose mourinho as his number 2 and they would of still been relegated within the same amount of games shearer had.they were relegated because they were a poor team who had concided themselves to relegation before it happened.
and to write him off as a manager based on his bbc pundit skills is also abit silly.
what really makes a good manager? there is no course you take in 'football managment'. shearer has been emersed in top flight football all his life, fair enough he didnt win any major honours after leaving blackburn. he has lived and breathed football from being a kid, he probably knows every coach in the league and would be insta-respected in the dressing room. shearer is a legend, newcastle legend, premier league legend and england legend.
watching him weekly at st james park you realise the amount of graft he would put into a game.his work ethic and leadership is second to none.i personally think he would make a good manager, he would get player respect and would know how to run a club, i also think the prospect of working for alan shearer would appear very appealing for alot of players
The thing is, why does he deserve to just walk into a top flight or even Championship club? You talk about his work ethic and leadership etc, well didn't a certain Roy Keane have that in abundance? What happened to him?
What do you mean by "know how to run a club"? He, in your words, took over Newcastle for a very limited amount of games, so what makes you suggest he knows anything about running a football club? He didn't have to make any transfers as he took over after the January window, so you can't even scrutinize his ability to make signings.
The reason I dislike people like Shearer taking over at clubs like Newcastle and Cardiff is that he's done nothing to deserve it. A manager like Gus Poyet has done his work as an assistant manager, gone out and got a job at a lower league club and then made a huge success of himself at said club. He deserves his chance far more than Shearer yet because he's a bigger name some idiotic chairman will see it as a headline grabbing opportunity and employ him.
The point about his BBC punditry is that listening to the bloke is as fun as watching paint dry. I'd be staggered if he was able to truly motivate a footballer in the way someone like Mourinho can. He comes across as dour and boring.

Who would honestly want to play for the dour, boring excuse for a man?
When he becomes a manager, he'll be rubbish at it, I guarantee it.
Stick to giving us your crap opinions on the BBC Alan whilst collecting your massive cheque for doing so.
are you ever happy ?
or like something or someone?
Have you ever listened to Shearer? 5 minutes of him talking and you're ready to top yourself.
I also can't see how he's possible a contender for the job and I also dislike the fact he could get the job based on his achievements as a player rather than as a manager. He relegated Newcastle and has never played at that level before, so what exactly does he know about Championship football? Still, will be fun to watch Cardiff crash and burn.
can you please answer my question this is nothing to do with shearer, but i do agree with you that he will be a shit manager and i dont really like him on motd etc
Yes and yes.
For example, your staking thread amused me greatly.
how did it amuse u?

Bellamy'll be thrilled.
.
wasnt he just on loan?
Yep, but he'd said that he wants to go back to Cardiff. Guess he can now.

These days it's quite rare for the manager to run a football club, perhaps it happens in the lower leagues but not sure. As I remember Cardiff are owned by some Malaysian syndicate who rest assured wont be letting the new manager run the club. So it really doesn't matter if Shearer has commercial apptitude or not. What matters is whether the guy can coach a football squad. I reckon he prob could for all the reasons ryecarr mentioned and of course he would be a respected voice on the training ground. I don't think it's much of a gamble because managers these days last about 1 year before changes are made so whoever they brought in wont be long term.
Anyway, let's talk about running a football club. Cardiff are currently around £40m in debt and the only way to service that debt is through commercial channels. They need to attract money to the club and get people interested in Cardiff and supporting or investing in Cardiff. The reality is football is money and so your criticism of owners seeking headline appointments that are big names is a bit misplaced. Sure thing, there are other people who perhaps deserve a chance due to their superior managerial pedigree but that sort of emotion wont cut any mustard with the bank manager. The sentiment of who "deserves" really has no place in the running of a modern day football club.

One win in eight games
Six games when they didn't score
Went down in a blaze of nothingness against Villa on the final day when they knew they needed a point to stay up.
Remember, Villa had one win in twelve prior to that game
Shearer - good player, but an arse.
If he had motivational skills he'd have kept Newcastle up.

Jees.
People do talk rot sometimes.
One small sample means nothing, either positively or negatively.
A namer like shearer will attract names to a club, that is important.
The guy seems to have a calmness i'd like to see in a manager.
If nothing else his advice towards the strikers will be priceless, and i'm sure the rest will fall into place.
Dunno why he'd want the job tbh but id wish him well regardless.

so what about when roy keane took over at sunderland who were bottom of the championship and got them promoted? Or how about Guardiola..... hes been alright hasnt he? ORRRR how about Klinsmann who took a very mediocre German side to a 3rd place world cup finish? cant be bothered to type much more but, Kenny Dalglish, Didier Deschamps, Carlo Ancelotti, Mark Hughes (kinda) etc etc
Bottom line is hes forgotten more about football than any of us could hope to know, and as is becoming a pattern with the players ive mentioned here, all had long careers under some of the best managers around at club and international level. By saying he hasnt played at championship level etc is like saying Phil Ivey wouldnt be able to beat 50nl

guardiola spent one season with the B team to then become the manager of one of the biggest clubs in the world. shearer spent a few weeks as a caretaker and could of been a championship manager.... Keane is playing with his dogs. But did Keane do the biz in the championship? yes he did... the other ones must be ok in your book though are they?
But yeah what do I know, you must know better than the people at Cardiff who have probably got more years between them than you will ever work, give them a shout infact i might give them a shout, i once won the champions league with port vale on champ man

Guardiola is Barcelona through and through. He knows how the club is run and was an obvious choice to take over. It's quite often the case in Spain that managers are promoted from within.
Shearer on the other hand had an ill-fated spell at Newcastle in which he only helped to send them down and other than that has absolutely zero managerial experience - whilst also not knowing the goings on at Cardiff.
They're not comparable.
As for Keane, he spent a fortune in the Championship with Sunderland and turned their season around in a very impressive fashion. He then struggled with them in the Premier League and was an absolute failure at Ipswich. Using him as some sort of example of managerial success is ridiculous considering he is sat on his couch at home playing with his dog's bollocks right at this moment.
You also realise that a bunch of Malaysian business men currently own Cardiff. What exactly would you suggest that they know about football? Football is all about opinion's, stop being a baby.
