Cheesy ordinarily a very good strategy. The BBC article is from July and the mail's from this week - there are lots of wasps atm due to our late Summer and their longer than usual hibernation.

as well as wasps and butterflies, I seem to have been invaded by many more moths this year than usual
Yup, we've had some fabulous moths too, especially the hand-sized ones that make husbands scream like little girls and little girls roll around laughing.

Hardly any wasps, loads of butterflies and surprisingly very few ants. We are usually overrun with ants.

The wasps have taught our ants to fly. God help me if the moles get the hang of it.

Oi!

They are amongst God's wonderful creatures, & we don't see them often. Should be a protected species imo.

Actually Keith, ants fly for one day in the year, (For mating / relocation purposes) they try to synchronise it so that they all do it at the same time, all across the country.

I think it's fascinating, and quite sweet.

Why do they always pick the same day as the Camel family decide to have a picnic?

Icky things.

They seem to be attracted to human eyeballs, especially those of runners.

I have a nostrils-attracting-greenflies problem when I run.  Much safer on the couch.
