with thanks to DaveShoelace

Sky Poker have announced the dates for the first season of the new ‘UK Cash Game’ show, beginning on Friday 24th June at 23:00 GMT. With top poker pros including Neil Channing, Ian Frazer and Sky Poker’s Julian Thew clashing on the felt, the UK Cash Game will air every Friday night for the next six weeks and give viewers the chance to watch and learn from some of the best players in the UK poker.

The UK Cash Game is the newest 6-episode poker show from Sky Poker TV (Sky Channel 865) and will air on Friday evenings between 11pm and 1am. Viewers will also be able to enjoy the show throughout the week, with repeats running throughout, meaning no one will miss out on the action. Commentary will be provided by Tony ‘Tikay’ Kendall and Richard Orford, two one of Sky Poker’s most established presenters and tikay.

“Sky Poker’s UK Cash Game is an exciting addition to Channel 865”, said Claire Cook Mother Hen, Line Producer at Sky Poker TV. “I believe we found the perfect combination between entertainment and great poker, and with some cutting edge technology in the table and card set up we could get through more hands per session, which means more great poker for our viewers to watch.”

Players who feature in the first season include Irish Open champion Neil Channing, Nik Persaud, Ian Frazer, Jamie Burland, Carlo Citrone, Sam Razavi, Paul ‘Action’ Jackson and Julian Thew. These players will be joined by two representatives of Team Sky Poker, Wayne ‘Gliterbabe’ Rideout and Redmond ‘LOLUFOLD’ Lee.

Editorial alert

The buy-in is just £500, which is considerably low compared to the other TV poke offerings, but this writer thinks that this is a good thing. Mid stakes is where it is at in the UK and hopefully series two of this new offering will encourage some of the Sky grassroots community to play cash poker on TV.

Careful Rich, I announced a new show called 'late night poker' on the site yesterday, shortly after announcing the death of Wild Bill Hicock.
