Murray has grown on me a little over the years but the reason I disliked him was he was that whenever he started losing he'd always make out he was injured and start limping round the court. He doesn't/didn't appear at all likeable on the court with all his moaning and then lobbing in a fake injury because he was losing used to annoy me. He wasn't world number 1. Nobody expected him to win all the time.
I'm not a huge Murray fan. There are many players that I prefer over him but I'm not against him anymore and he's certainly showed a more light hearted side over the years. I don't think it was just the English that disliked him either but I think the Scots feel better protecting their Andy from the nasty English.

Why are Scottish people so touchy about this? I never considered Henman, "English", he played for Great Britain.

Either way he's not winning Wimbledon so it doesn't matter.

The point is that Andy is proud to be Scottish, but is also proud to be British. (Despite what King Eck I of Scotland would lead you to believe, the 2 are not mutually exclusive.) He's the best British tennis player probably ever, certainly in my lifetime, and that's something to be rightly proud of.

Not sure what he's ever done to justify being described as a twat but each to their own I suppose.

This was what started a lot of the English's dislike for him http://andershanson.wordpress.com/2009/06/28/will-we-ever-forgive-andy-murray-for-his-anyone-but-england-comment/ even though England footy team are shit we don't need some mug jock telling us. Bring back Rusedski.  A TRUE BRIT......

"Bring back Rusedski.  A TRUE BRIT......"  Wink Nice one!

Still doesn't explain why some English hate him. What was his great crime? Having a laugh with Tim Henman? Tsk tsk, naughty boy.

Are you serious? Those silly comments are reason enough why some English will never like him...........

The reason people don't warm to him is that he's such a grumpy sod on court. If he smiled a bit and interacted with the crowd more people would warm to him.

See also Nadal, who when he won last night looked as if someone had just run over his dog.

he sustained an injury in the first set that felt like someone had wrong over his foot.

Nadal is easily the most popular player on tour behind Federer.

What are you on about?
