Live .50/£1 cash game about 200bb~ effective deep. Villain in question seems reasonably fishy. Old man, sticky with one pair, semi capable level 2 thinker etc.

Villain opens UTG+2 to £3.50, two callers, we're in the cutoff with and 3bet to £18. Villain is probably expecting a squeeze here because I'm "an internet kid." Villain calls and we're heads up.

Flop is

Villain leads for £44 which is exactly pot, with £110 behind.

We ??

You turn to the dealer and proudly say that you would like to wager all of your chips

Are there any turn cards we hate? Why do we prefer a call over a shove?

Your answering your own question. If we jam he folds some hands that he will jam the turn with that haven't improved.

Seems very unlikely he'd lead for a full pot bet with the intention of folding any hand on the flop, while he might give up draws on the turn? I know there's only a small range of draws he can have, but if he's not folding Ax on flop or turn anyway, is it better to get it in now?

Tank for a min, then shove and feel happy about it. If the tard has a9 or a7 so be it.

Don't want to give him opportunity to hero fold AJ/FD and also I have definitely seen people just do this as a straight up bluff  because I'm "an internet kid.".  No there are no bad turns for us, J is the worst but we still definitely stack off on that

Theres really no difference between jamming and call/calling if you don't think that he's ever not bet/calling this flop because if he's always bet/calling the flop then he can never have bluffs to jam the turn that would make calling flop the better play. If you think that he can have hands like QQ/JJ/TT/9x that he just bets big with because he wants you to fold then call is obv the better play because he sometimes smashes it in on the turn whereas he almost always folds to a flop jam.

Arguments against flatting the flop are that you sometimes fold the best hand to a turn jam if it comes something gross like a J or T, or he might decide to check/fold a worse ace on diamond turns that he would have stacked the flop with but its a .50/1 live game so he'll probably just end up check/calling it off anyway.

So I think I prefer call having given it some thought

Dan is right that there shouldn't be any difference between calling or jamming the flop, but I've seen people fold in these spots to jams before very often, i think the process of though goes something like, need to bet to see if my AT is good, need to bet big cos there is a flush draw down, then he's "found out where he is" by the time you jam and hero folds.

so yh calling is prolly better even though jamming is a far, far nicer play
