After playing the league in May, I was lucky enough to win a free seat into the £100 HU tourney at this lovely wee club.

As reported previously I totally bombed in the comp but managed to come away £100 up Smiley This was to be split between me and Frank (cormach) but he kindly said he would put his £50 towards the deepstack that I fancied playing on the 16th of this month.

The comp is a £100 buyin for 10k chips and a £50 rebuy/addon for another 10k chips with NO rake!! Blinds are 3 x 30mins then 25 mins to the end, so a decent comp I think, it will hopefully be a late one as its playing to the end.

So the plan is, Frank is on 33%, me on 33% and the other 33% I will donated back to blonde...of course 33% of zero is still zero, but its a plan.

Walking into a poker club where you dont know anyone is a bit daunting for us ladies and wondered if anyone else fancies playing too?

As much as I like this club I must take exception to the no rake bit.
Agreed you just pay a headline price but I played the £35 game recently and only £25 of each entry went into the pot.
That looks like a 40% rake to me!

reply to message thread.......http://blondepoker.com/forum/index.php?topic=54146.0

Maybe whisperer should elaborate a little as he/she is being a little economical with the truth regarding our rake.

On the 6th June we changed to a flat rate fee for buy-ins, for instance we will use whisperers £35 example. prior to the 6th June the £35 tourney would have had a £5 additional charge for participation fee & vegas league this bought 8k chips for the tourney. We then sold bonus chips of 2,500 for an additional £5 which we then added to a "bubble event" (bi-weekly for the players who had finished as the final table bubble (10th) or did not cash on the final table).

This meant that the players were paying £45 for 10.5k chips. From the 6th of June we charged £35 inc of participation fee,  league & bonus chips & at no point did we ever say our tourneys were rake free, we stated there was no hidden fees !!!! the players after the 6th received 10,500 starting chips for £35, (we thought the players were looking for more chips and more play without spending more money.

We go to extremes at TC's to make sure our members feel they are getting great value for money & to be totally transparent with the members money. I would also hasten to add that we are the only private members club that gives its bonus chip sales back to the members & does not try to dress it up as something we are adding out of the clubs finances.

Because of the confusion that the change has caused we have now returned to the old style of buy-ins & instead of including bonus chips we have once again made these purchases optional on the night so whatever buy-in we advertise is now the price the players pay to play any given tournament & if they choose not to take the bonus chips that is their own individual decision.

In these tough economic times we were trying to make it less expensive to play & giving more chips but sadly it has slightly backfired on us. However as per our revised schedule
http://tcsports.org.uk/nd1_schedule.html   everything is back to normal & whatever the buy-in is that is what goes into the pot minus our participation fee & autumn league, which totals £5 per tournament & never £10 as was stated.

Pretty sure you copy and pasted this in the other thread (and added paragraphs). Any need to repost?

Probably because I've never played there, but I found that post very confusing and I'm still not sure what is being charged to the players and what it's for.

What ever happened to the simple this much goes into the prize pool, this much is the fee? Surely that's what most players want to see?

All this talk of more chips and bonus chips is meaningless really. Surely the structure of the tournaments is what's important?

It's dead clear to me:
It was a 35+5+5
Then it became a 45-5-5
Now it's a 35+5+5 again.

One 5 is vig/rake/"participation fee". The other 5 was optional, then wasn't, now is again, and goes to a bonus tournament for losers.

Clear as a clear thing that's been cleared by the clear fairy on national clear day.

Maybe whisperer should elaborate a little as he/she is being a little economical with the truth regarding our rake.

Many thanks for your in depth response on this subject.

It's not that I was being economical with the tructh, it is just that as a non-regular I didn't know/understand any of these included extras. I just turned up for a £35 double chance and only £25 went into the pot.
I am sure any regulars were fully aware of the additional elements but I wasn't, nor did I see any reference to it inside the club.
For what it is worth I think your venue is superb and when I do occasionally play live I choose yours over others.

many thanks whisperer, we thought we were doing the right thing & apologise if our bubble tourney wasn't explained to u. As I said earlier we tried to make it clearer and didn't explain ourselves clearly, hence the reason for my ultra long explanation of what we were trying to achieve. Everything is back to normal now & exactly as the tournament schedule appears. Just to correct rex008, obv I wasn't clear even here lol it used to be 35+5+5 (10.5kchips) then became 35-5-5 (10.5kchips) and entry into a £1,000 tourney. It is now £35 -5 & thats it.

I'd rather see £30 + 5.

More clear, imho.

PLZ do yourself a favour. for £150 you can certainly find a better game than this club. The play in here will certainly send you on tilt i will give u an example of some of the things i have seen in this club as far as play goes. Was playing here on a tuesday night £40 + £5 reg 13,500 starting stack 25 min blind first 3 levels then 20 mins after. 1st hand of night im in big blind 25/50 blind levels. UTG raises to 600, so just the standard 12x bb raise gets four callers before it gets to me in bb so i take a peak at my cards i look at , now sat there thinking to myself what has 5ppl got before me to warrant calling 12x bb on first hand of night so gracefully muck them comes a jack high flop then it goes crazy three all ins the hands in question were aces ace jack queen jack  aces being utg. These players are manic i have seen umpteen multi way pots with trash jsut to haver a spin up because they allow a so called re entry into tournies. so good luck all
