James Williams wins the Sky Poker Tour Grand Final

James "LJamesL" Williams of Team Sky Poker won the Sky Poker Tour Grand Final this weekend at Dusk Till Dawn in Nottingham, the event concluding the 2010-11 Sky Poker Tour. Williams, from Swindon, beat Birmingham's Astel Cowan to the title and over £22,000 for first place at the end of two days which saw 374 players compete for the event.

Williams had returned as one of fifty-seven players for Day Two as one of the very shortest stacks but after an early double-up he never looked back, beginning the final table second in chips behind Kristian Downer, who was to eventually finish third. The final table highlighted the enormous diversity of players in the event with two sponsored professionals, Williams and Jamie Burland, battling with the likes of Daniel Green ( in only his second ever live game )and two ladies Saifon Lambe ( a live satellite qualifier ) and Sian Yorke.

With the conclusion of the 2010-11 tour our attention now turns to the 2011-12 Sky Poker Tour, details of which has just been announced. The tour begins on 29th-30th October with a 180 runner Six-Max event at Dusk Till Dawn, the first of seven legs offering a total of £250,000 in guaranteed prize pools. Satellite qualification of the first event begins this week on www.skypoker.com, where you will find details of the whole of new tour.
