This is just THE best read ever on blonde, thanks guys, it is SO inspiring, you two guys battling adversity, blisters, Banjul belly, weather, wet clothes, fatigue, everything, & never once moaning or groaning, never been so inspired by anything.

I am so jealous, & spoke to Tom yesterday, & told him I would like to try something similar, though, given my age & condition, more modest.

He is going to start me off with a Croft Quarry walk, which is severely uphill, & takes all of, umm, 20 minutes I gather, but it's a start.

Good luck, be careful, & thank you.

And there was me thinking i must be the only nutter reading this and, in spite (or maybe because) of all the challenges very much finding myself wanting to aim to do something similar.

I bet there are a dozen or more thinking the same, Claire.

Tom has already rung me this morning, offering to do the Croft Quarry walk today, but I'm "doubtful", 20/80, as I have so many bits & bobs to sort in readiness for tomorrow & Sunday, it's easily the most hectic "work" weekend of the year for me, & I don't want to be doing the Croft thing with one eye on my watch, that would be dumb.

Inspired by Geo and Jack, this morning I decided to walk up to the 3rd floor of the office instead of using the lift.

I'd have considered you to be reasonably fit too.  Illusions shattered.

It's not that I can't do it, I simply choose not to.

I feel it would be disrespecting the efforts made by whoever it was who built the lift.

Reception bad in Reeth today, but they've phoned to say they made it there ok.  They had a 12 mile trek to get there and Jack's feet held up for the most part.  They're camping for the night and heading the 12 miles to Richmond in the morning.  When they reach Richmond, expect a posting explosion as they'll have coverage and a day off to update ye.

wiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiii

We're in the metropolis that is Richmond and better still, I'm about to get a shower. Just to add to the sense of euphoria, our stinking clothes are gonna get a proper wash too!

Sigh. .... only wifi access available and I only have basic phone. Really good day yesterday. Nice walk from keld to reeth and then moved on another mile or so to bivvi up. Settled in richmond In a lovely guesthouse with amazing views into the swale valley below. Trying to find if I have any contacts in the catterick area who might be able to assist re web access.  Geo
