Playing in Goliath yesterday.

I've got JTo on the button. Folded to a nit who limps in HJ.

He's a nit in that I've seen him make some absurd laydowns. He's not a preflop nit. He's steaming a bit though because he's made a lot of second best hands (I think he thinks he's made even more second best hands than he actually has due to laying down some big hands wrongly). He's got 30bb. I can't remember what the blinds are, but it's around 150/300/25.

I reraise to 1200 to isolate the blinds fold, I am called by the villain and we're heads up to a flop of:

  .

Checked to me, I continue for around 1500. He jams for 5k more (6.5k total)- which was a pot size bet. I call.

How much have you got?

Raise less pre and check back flop.

Always wanting to keep this pot small if possible.

My actual raise size (if I were to raise) would be 1050.

20k, probably. Starting stack in this thing is 25k, remember. The blinds behind me have 20k-30k. This guy is a real short stack at this stage.

I don't want to raise smaller, I'm trying not to pick up tourists out of the blinds (although that actually isn't a problem on this table, as the blinds are the tightest players pre-flop I think I've ever played with).

pre far too big. chk back flop or bet call both have pro's and cons, chking back is a touch passive and bet calling is a bit spewy

I reckon I'd chk back

With this in mind and considering the limpers stack size, I limp along to see a flop ip.

Dont think pre sizing is terrible tho wld prob prefer nearer 1050.

On flop i prefer checking bk for pc even tho the board is wet.

Once you bet it's a pretty horrible spot, obv we beat the draws in his range and for that reason and for the fact that he's steaming i call.

Also when u show yr holding win or lose you'll gain an image that cld be useful and doubt you'll be bluffed much.

Obv yr stack size is helpful here, once you've bet the flop i think yr committed 2 his jam, otherwise why bet and turn this good showdown hand in2 a bluff?

Hate overlimping here, be the aggressor not one of the flock.

Pump or fold imo.
